Abstract: An improved coffee brewer (10) and brewing method are provided for producing brewed coffee with improved flavor. The coffee brewer includes a brew basket (12) having jet ports (14) connected to a source of heated water and positioned to deliver hot water streams into the brew basket (12) at a location beneath the level of coffee grounds contained therein. These hot water streams turbulently agitate and stir the coffee grounds to produce a substantially fluidized bed of water-borne coffee grounds for improved flavor extraction and enhanced aroma. This fluidized bed is directed against one or more mesh filter elements forming a wall portion of the brew basket (12) for outward passage of the thus-brewed coffee which is then directed into an underlying carafe (20) or the like. In one preferred form, a portion of the brew basket incorporsates an illuminated window to permit visual observation of the fluidized bed therein.

Abstract: A brewer for brewing beverages in a brew basket, such as loose coffee or tea, is provided, where the flow of water to the brew basket alternates between water brewing phases and steam brewing phases during a single brew cycle, resulting in comparatively higher temperatures of water in the brew basket than conventional brewers. The frequency and duration of the water brewing phases and steam brewing phases during a brew cycle can be electronically controlled according to one or more predetermined programs. A reinforcing band is also provided for the lighted brew basket interior to strengthen the brewer head bowl in this area, and a single cup insert is also provided.

Abstract: A slotted hosel (12) and related attachment system and method are provided for securely affixing a golf club head (10) to the end of a golf club shaft (14). The hosel (12) is formed to extend generally cylindrical upwardly from a heel end of the club head and has a generally cylindrical shape defining an upwardly open hosel bore. At least one and preferably multiple laterally open slot (16) are formed in the hosel (12) to reduce the weight thereof. A relatively thin-walled liner sleeve (18) is slide-fitted into the hosel bore and thereafter expanded to form dimples therein protruding outwardly into secure mechanical interlocking relation with the hosel (12). The end of the club shaft (14) is thereafter slide-fitted into the liner sleeve (18) and securely affixed therein by epoxy of the like.

Abstract: A golf club head (10) is provided of the metal wood type, wherein a faceplate (14) of the club head (10) carries a weighted insert (12). In one form, a weighted insert (12) is mounted into a forwardly open cavity (32) formed in the faceplate (14) and defines a front end visible from the exterior of the club head (10) and disposed substantially coplanar with the club head faceplate (14).
