Abstract: A spinning or stationary assembly (31) for spraying liquid into a brewing chamber (29). The assembly (31) may be attached to a disk configured to removably reside in the brewing chamber (29) for brewing or cleaning, or be part of a coffee maker (10). Liquid pumped into the assembly (31) may cause the assembly to spin by the liquid flowing past gears or a propeller (43), or by tangential sprays (36) on a spinning member (34). Alternatively, the coffee maker includes a rotating shaft (50) to cause the spinning member (34) to spin or may include stator winding (52) creating a rotating magnetic field to cause the spinning member (34) to spin. In another embodiment the assembly includes a wide spray provided by a fixed nozzle (70). A base (80) is optionally provided to capture the spray for cleaning and direct a flow into a bottom extraction needle (19b) of the coffee maker (10) to clean the extraction needle (19b).

Apparatuses and methods are disclosed to reduce labor involved in pour-over brewing techniques, while providing greater consistency in the results. Abstract: An improved coffee brewer and brewing method are provided for producing brewed coffee with improved flavor. The coffee brewer includes a brew basket having jet ports connected to a source of heated water and positioned to deliver hot water streams into the brew basket at a location beneath the level of coffee grounds contained therein. These hot water streams turbulently agitate and stir the coffee grounds to produce a substantially fluidized bed of water-borne coffee grounds for improved flavor extraction and enhanced aroma, This fluidized bed is directed against one or more mesh filter elements forming a wall portion of the brew basket for outward passage of the thus-brewed coffee which is then directed into an underlying carafe or the like. In one preferred form, a portion of the brew basket may incorporate a window to permit visual observation of the fluidized bed therein.

Abstract: For use in a single serve beverage brewer in which a measured charge of a dry beverage medium is infused with a metered amount of heated liquid to produce a beverage medium, a reusable beverage filter cartridge is provided for containing the beverage medium and for accommodating an inflow of the heated liquid and an outflow of the beverage medium. The cartridge comprises a cup-shaped housing (10) having a top opening (18) and a closed bottom (22) with an outlet port (24).
