Abstract:
A compact five-speed transmission planetary gear train includes a first, second, third, fourth and fifth planetary gear sets between an input and an output as well as first, second, third and fourth brakes and first and second clutches. The first, second, third and fourth brakes and first and second clutches are selectively actuatable to provide five different forward speeds and a plurality of different reverse speeds between the input and the output.
Abstract:
A machine (10), such as an electrically powered track type tractor, includes an engine (16) configured to rotate a generator (18). A drive coupling (20) has a first element fixed to rotate with the engine (16) and a second element fixed to rotate with the generator (18). The first and second elements are configured to rotationally couple together for transmitting torque from the engine (16) to the generator (18), but configured to allow relative slip between the first and second elements. The relative slip may occur during engine (16) start up as rotational rates pass through a range associated with the excitation of resonance torsional vibrations. A centering ring (80) has a radial outer surface (82) in contact with the first element and a radial inner surface (81) in contact with the second element. The centering ring (80) assists in avoiding an off center drive coupling arrangement while electrically isolating the first element from the second element.
