Abstract:
A silicone coating is applied to fabrics to increase the abrasion resistance while enhancing the natural absorbency and breathability. These fabrics can be used for a variety of applications such as components for shoes, inkjet receptive media, automotive air bags, facing for insulation, tapes and other uses.
Abstract:
Strong nonwoven fabrics can be used as a sheet in a silt screen fence or other temporary silt screen barrier. The fabrics can be without reinforcements. Enhanced features of these strong nonwoven fabrics can enable them to be used as a sheet in a silt screen fence or other temporary silt screen barrier without adding additional processing steps. A strong nonwoven fabric without internal or external reinforcement that does not tear easily and has excellent light stability can be used.
Abstract:
This invention involves the addition of antistatic agents to the melt of spunbonded processes to improve fabric uniformity and reduce fabric defects.
Abstract:
The subject invention provides non-woven fabrics having yarns of varying characteristics. In a preferred embodiment the subject invention provides nonwoven fabrics that comprise yarns of different deniers or cross sections. The use of these yarns gives the nonwoven fabric a unique appearance and advantageous properties. The subject invention further pertains to the processes used to produce these fabrics.
Abstract:
Strong fabrics with an affinity for oil can be deployed from boats and other sea vessels to absorb oil that has been spilled into oceans, gulfs, rivers, or other bodies of water. For example. strong nylon spunbonded fabrics can be used to soak up oil from bodies of water. The fabrics can also be used in concert with other methods, such as with containment booms.
Abstract:
Compounds can be added in an extruder making yarns used to make fabrics, added in an extruder used to make fabrics such as spunbonded or hydro entangled fabrics, coated on the surface of yarns used to make fabric, or coated on the surface of fabrics to improve fabric performance specifically to resist corrosion or degradation when exposed to harsh environments. Fabrics with these added compounds will maintain their tensile properties over a longer period of exposure time than fabrics without the compounds. Items such as filter media, fiberglass reinforced parts, geotextiles, and home furnishings can be made with these fabrics that will resist corrosion or degradation.
