    Abstract: A wireless device, such as user equipment (UE) or other apparatus, like may use a transparent mode operation in which the device is not aware of the operation mode of a base station, such as a gNB or other transmission and receive point (TRP), via the use of configurations for Frame Based Equipment (FBE) and Load Based Equipment (LBE) operating modes. A base station may initiate a Channel Occupancy Time (COT) that is an FBE COT or an LBE COT, in which the wireless device follows FBE or LBE procedures accordingly. A variety of criteria may be applied in determining whether to use FBE or LBE procedures, and to switch between them. A network may use indicate the intention to switch operation mode and may do so via implicit or explicit indications. Similarly, a wireless device may autonomously switch operation mode, and may indicate the selected mode to the network.

    BEAM FAILURE RECOVERY IN NEW RADIO UNLICENSED SPECTRUM

    Abstract: Beam failure recovery may be improved via the use enhanced signaling, counters, and windowing. Signaling may include a beam failure reference signal (BFRS) detection signal, which indicates that an access point (e.g., gNB) has acquired a channel for downlink transmission. Based on the BFRS detection signal, a wireless terminal (e.g., UE) may then monitor a gNB downlink transmission during a maximum channel occupancy time (MCOT). The UE may count missed beam failure reference signal instances and report the count, e.g., via higher layer signaling. Signaling may include a BFRS absence indication reflecting an instance of a BFRS that is not transmitted due to channel unavailability. The UE may then exclude the instance of the BFRS from the count. Signaling may include a gNB response detection signal, which may inform the UE to monitor a gNB downlink transmission. The UE may trigger timer after receiving an access gNB response detection signal.

    Abstract: The present application is directed to an apparatus including a non-transitory memory including instructions stored thereon for monitoring synchronous signals and physical broadcast channels (SSBs) from a network node. The apparatus also includes a processor, operably coupled to the non-transitory memory, configured to execute a set of instructions. The instructions include configuring the apparatus for a STTC (SSB Transmission Timing Configuration). The instructions also include monitoring the STTC for the SSBs. The instructions further include determining a first one of the SSBs in a first slot of a subframe in a scheduled SSB transmission in the STTC has been transmitted at a first scheduled location, where the transmission of the first one of the SSBs is based upon confirmation of a successful Listen Before Talk (LBT) available channel prior to the scheduled SSB transmission in the STTC. The instructions even further include determining a second one of the SSBs in the scheduled SSB transmission in the STTC successfully or failed to transmit at a second scheduled location. The instructions yet even further include observing transmission of the second one of the SSBs in the first slot or a second slot.

    Abstract: The present application at least describes a method for obtaining channel access in a network. The method includes a step of selecting, via a gNodeB, a spatial filter from a first set of spatial filters to perform listen before talk (LBT). The method includes a step of detecting, via the gNodeB, a channel in an idle state,. The method also includes a step of obtaining, a directional channel occupancy time (COT) in the channel in a direction of the selected spatial filter. The method also includes a step of transmitting, to a node, a channel access indicator transmission (CAI-T) on a beam in the cot via a spatial filter of a second set of spatial filters. The method further includes a step of receiving, from the node, a channel access indicator response (CAI-R). The method further includes a step of sensing, via short channel sensing and via the spatial filter or another spatial filter of the second set of spatial filters, the channel is clear. The method even further includes a step of sending, via the channel, information to the node using one or more spatial filters of the second set of spatial filters. Other embodiments of this aspect include corresponding computer systems, apparatus, and computer programs recorded on one or more computer storage devices, each configured to perform the actions of the methods.

    Abstract: An electronic device including a transceiver to communicate with a network; and circuitry. The circuitry is configured to perform beam failure detection on a monitored cell; detect a beam failure on the monitored cell; determine at least one new set of candidate beam reference signals (CB-RSs) from at least one set of CB-RS configured for the device; determine if any CB-RS in the at least one new set of CB-RSs meets a criterion, and in a case that any CB-RS in the at least one new set of CB-RSs meets the criterion: select a beam corresponding to a CB-RS in the new set that meets the criterion as the new beam, and indicate the selected new beam to the network; and in a case that no CB-RS in the new set of CB-RS meets a criterion, indicate to the network that no CB-RS in the new set meets the criterion.
