Abstract: A system 1 and method for dispensing beverage from a container 700, such as wine from a wine bottle. Dispensing may be automatically controlled based on a detected orientation of the container, e.g., dispensing may occur when a bottle 700 is tilted as if to pour from the bottle and stopped when the bottle is oriented upright. Dispensing may be stopped when the container is rotated about its longitudinal axis even while in a pour orientation. The remaining amount of beverage in the container 700 is detected on the base of the time needed for pressurising the container or of the time needed to dispense beverage from the container. The pressure gas used to drive dispensing is detected on the base of the time needed for pressurising the container.

Abstract: A system and method for dispensing sparkling and other pressurized beverages from a container (10). Sparkling wine and other beverages may be dispensed without removing a cork (11) or other closure (11). One or more needles may be inserted through the closure (11) and sparkling beverage dispensed through the one or more needles. The one or more needles may be inserted at an angle (36) to the vertical or axis of the bottle opening (12, 43C, 61B) in which the closure (11) is positioned, e.g., to avoid contact with a metal retainer (13) on the closure (11). Dispensed beverage may be directed to a pressurized reservoir (4) to help maintain or recover carbonation prior to dispensing.

Abstract: A beverage dispensing apparatus may include a beverage dispenser and associated stopper. The stopper may be used to replace a cork, cap or other closure of a beverage container, such as a wine bottle. A needle of the beverage dispenser may be inserted through a passageway of the stopper so that pressurized gas can be introduced into the container to force beverage liquid to exit the container via the needle. The stopper may suitably seal the container after dispensing is complete, e.g., to resist exposing the beverage to oxygen.
