Abstract: The invention comprises a method for purging a selective catalytic reduction dosing system (10) having a urea reservoir (11), a urea delivery module (12) comprising at least one pump (23, 24, 33, 43), a dosing injector (15) arranged to spray urea into an engine exhaust pipe and a feedline (26, 36, 46). The method comprises: (1) activating a reverse pump (23)/ a pump in a reverse direction (33, 43); (2) opening the dosing injector (15); (3) stopping the reverse pump (23)/ reverse direction of the pump (33, 43) and closing the dosing injector (15); (4) activating a forward pump (24)/ a forward direction of the pump (33, 43); (5) stopping the forward pump (24)/ forward direction of the pump (33, 43) and opening the dosing injector (15); and (6) activating the reverse pump (23)/ reverse direction of the pump (33, 43). The invention also extends to a selective catalytic reduction dosing system (10).
