Embodiments of the invention include a phosphorus containing flame retardant which may be the reaction product of a reaction mixture where the reaction mixture includes at least one active hydrogen-containing compound and at least one phosphorus containing compound. The at least one active hydrogen-containing compound is selected from the group of a first polyol having a hydroxyl functionality of at least 3, a polyamine having an amine functionality of at least 2, and an amino alcohol having a combined amine and hydroxyl functionality of at least 2. The at least one phosphorus containing compound has the general formula (1), (2) or combination thereof.

The present disclosure relates to a polyurethane foam composition, comprising (A) a polyol component, comprising one or more polyols selected from the group consisting of a polyester polyol, a polyether polyol, and the combination thereof, wherein the one or more polyols have an average hydroxyl group functionality of from 3 to 7 and an average hydroxyl group number of from 300 to 1000 mg KOH/g; and (B) an isocyanate component, comprising one or more isocyanate compounds; wherein in either or both of the (A) polyol component and the (B) isocyanate component, the polyurethane foam composition further comprises one or more flame retardants in an amount of no more than 15 percent by weight based on the total weight of the polyurethane foam composition, and, one or more blowing agents; and wherein the NCO/OH ratio of the isocyanate component to the polyol component is within the range of from 0.5: 1 to 5: 1. The present disclosure further relates to a method for potting a battery by using the polyurethane foam composition.

Photovoltaic or solar module frames, racks, or frame or rack components are made from a composition comprising (A) a thermoplastic polymer, particularly a thermoplastic polyolefin, (B) a reinforcing element, particularly glass fiber, (C) a non-halogen containing, intumescent flame retardant, (D) an impact-modifier, particularly a polyolefin elastomer, (E) a coupling agent, and, optionally, (F) one or more additives such as an antioxidant, UV-stabilizer, etc. These frames provide for easy assembly without the need for screws, bolts or other metal fasteners.

Polymer foam bodies are made from phosphorus-containing thermoplastic random copolymers of a dialkyl (meth)acryloyloxyalkyl phosph(on)ate. Foam bodies made from these copolymers exhibit increased limiting oxygen indices and surprisingly have good properties. In certain embodiments, the phosphorus-containing thermoplastic copolymer is blended with one or more other polymers and formed into nanofoams.
