Abstract: An epoxy-curable silicone release coating composition and methods for its preparation and use are provided. The composition contains an inhibited Lewis acid catalyst. Releasing the Lewis acid catalyst from the inhibitor allows the Lewis acid to catalyze cure of the epoxy-groups. The composition can be coated on various substrates and cured to form a release liner.

Abstract: A composition for forming a release coating is disclosed. The composition comprises (A) an organopolysiloxane comprising the reaction product of: (i) a silicone resin having a particular formula; (ii) a cyclic siloxane; and (iii) (iii) at least one of (A)(iii)(a) a branched organopolysiloxane having a particular formula or (A)(iii)(b) a terminating agent; in the presence of a polymerization catalyst. The composition further comprises (B) an organopolysiloxane including an average of at least two silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule.

Abstract: A polyfunctional organohydrogensiloxane and method for its preparation using a boron containing Lewis acid as catalyst is disclosed. A clustered functional organosiloxane may be prepared by a method comprising functionalizing the polyfunctional organohydrogensiloxane. The polyfunctional organohydrogensiloxane and the clustered functional organosiloxane are useful in curable compositions. The polyfunctional organohydrogensiloxane may be used in a release coating composition. The clustered functional organosiloxane may be used in an adhesive composition.

Abstract: A method of preparing a composition for forming a release coating is disclosed. The method comprises preparing a reaction product comprising a polyorganohydrogensiloxane compound having cyclic SiH-functional branching groups interconnected by linear polydiorganosiloxane segments (the "branched cyclic polyorganohydrogensiloxane compound"), by combining together (A) a hydroxyl terminated polydiorganosiloxane and (B) a cyclic polyorganohydrogensiloxane, in the presence of (C) a boron containing Lewis acid and a solvent. A release coating composition including the reaction product comprising the branched cyclic polyorganohydrogensiloxane is also disclosed. The reaction product may be combined with or prepared in the presence of a polyorganohydrogensiloxane diluent and stripped of solvent to prepare the composition as a blend of the branched cyclic polyorganohydrogensiloxane and the polyorganohydrogensiloxane diluent for use in solventless-curable compositions.

Abstract: A curable polysiloxane release coating composition comprises (A) an organopolysiloxane containing ethylenically unsaturated groups. Component (A) is selected from: (A1) a branched organopolysiloxane containing at least three (3) organopolysiloxane branch chains linked through a central core including at least two (2) organopolysiloxane branch chains each of which contain an ethylenically unsaturated group; and/or (A2) a linear organopolysiloxane containing at least 2 ethylenically unsaturated groups having at least six (6) carbon atoms. The composition further comprises (B) an organopolysiloxane containing at least 2 Si-H groups, and (C) a hydrosilylation catalyst. The composition yet further comprises (D) a hydrosilylation inhibitor comprising a maleimide of the general formula (I). In formula (I), A 3 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and A 1 and A 2 each represent a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms.
