Abstract:
The invention relates to a spun yarn comprising at least one natural fiber and staples of a high strength polyethylene fiber, wherein the high strength polyethylene fiber has an initial modulus of at least 40 GPa and a tensile strength of at least 1.4GPa, wherein the yarn comprises between 1 and 4 % by weight staples of the high strength polyethylene fiber. The invention also relates to a fabric comprising the spun yarn and articles comprising said spun yarn or said fabric.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cable suitable to send electrical signals, said cable having a diameter of at most 10 mm and comprising a protective cover, wherein said cover comprises high strength polyolefin fibers and wherein the thickness of the cover is at most 10% of the diameter of the cable.
Abstract:
There is provided a cut resistant yarn comprising a blend of first and second staple fibers, wherein, the first staple fibers are polymer- fibers, each first staple fiber comprising a polymer body encasing a hard component, said hard component being a plurality of hard fibers, said hard fibers having an average diameter of at most 25 microns; and the second staple fibers are different to the first staple fibers, wherein the weight ratio of the first to second staple polymer- fibers is from 1:99 to 99:1.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an article comprising a cut-resistant coating which contains a polymeric matrix and a cut-resistant component distributed in the polymeric matrix characterized in that said cut-resistant component is a plurality of fibers having an average length (L) to an average diameter (D) ratio, i.e. L/D, of at least 10.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cut resistant composite yarn comprising: a) at least one yarn containing filaments and/or staple fibers, said filaments and/or staple fibers containing a hard component, said hard component being a plurality of hard fibers, said hard fibers having an average diameter of at most (25) microns; and b)at least one continuous elastic filament. The invention further relates to a fabric and articles comprising the yarn, in particular a glove.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a woven fabric comprising a weft yarn and at most two warp yarns A and B, wherein the weft yarn comprises a high performance fiber; the warp yarn A comprises at least 50 wt% of a natural fiber; the warp yarn B comprises a high performance fiber; and wherein the fabric has an outside layer comprising the warp yarn A and an inside layer comprising the warp yarn B and said outside and inside layers being at least partially interconnected by the weft yarn. The invention also relates to products comprising said woven fabric such as clothing, lining, sport apparel, gloves, curtains, upholstery fabric and floor covering.
Abstract:
Process for enhancing the color intensity of a colored molded UHMWPE article comprising the steps of a) providing an UHMWPE, a coloring agent and a color enhancer, b) molding the UHMWPE into a molded article, c) adding the color enhancer to the UHMWPE before or during the molding step and d) adding the coloring agent to the UHMWPE before, during or after the molding step, wherein the color enhancer is a material with a hardness higher than the hardness of the molded article measured in the absence of the color enhancer.
