Abstract: A method of manufacturing a photovoltaic cell array of the type comprising a primary electrode array and a counter-electrode array together defining a series-connected sequence of cells, each containing electrolyte which is insulated from direct electrical contact with the electrolyte of neighbouring cells, the method comprising: (a) providing one of said electrode arrays in a substantially horizontal orientation and which is structured so as to define a plurality of cells; and (b) depositing electrolyte into the cells of said one electrode array.

Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus for manufacturing a flexible array of photovoltaic cells from components supplied in the form of rolls of sheet material, the apparatus comprising a plurality of modules, each of which is arranged to perform a respective processing operation on one of the sheet materials, the arrangement being such that upstream of each module there is provided means for unwinding the sheet material required for its respective processing operation and that, downstream of each module there is provided means for re-winding the sheet material after the processing operation has been completed.

Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus for enabling precise positioning of a module (604) along a track, the apparatus comprising: a block(601) arranged to be fixedly mounted on a track; means (605) for connecting the module to the block in such a way that the module is constrained for movement toward and away from the block along the direction of the track, and a threaded bolt (608) secured within a thread in either the module or the block and having a head (610) positioned between the module and the block which acts as an end stop, the bolt being caused to move longitudinally on rotation of the bolt such that the head defines a selectable separation between the module and the block, the arrangement being such that, when the threaded bolt is in a position which defines a desired separation between the module and the block, the module can be moved toward the block to the position defined by the end stop.
