Abstract: Gypsum composites containing cementitious materials and methods of making the same are provided. Gypsum composites include gypsum and a cementitious material. Methods of making gypsum composites include combining gypsum stucco, water, and a cementitious material to form a slurry, and setting and drying the slurry to form a gypsum composite.

Abstract: Methods of manufacturing composites are provided, including combining dihydrate calcium sulfate whiskers, hemihydrate calcium sulfate stucco, and water to form a slurry, and setting the slurry to form a composite having a natural porosity of about 60 volume percent or greater. Composites are also provided, including dihydrate calcium sulfate whiskers and dihydrate calcium sulfate crystals, and having a natural porosity of about 60 volume percent or greater.

Abstract: Fiber-reinforced coated mats and fiber-reinforced coated mat-faced panels are provided herein, along with methods for making the same. Fiber-reinforced coated mats include a mat with a fiber-reinforced coating on one surface. Fiber-reinforced coated mat-faced panels include a fiber-coated mat and a panel material in contact with a surface of the mat opposite the fiber-reinforced coating. Methods include applying a fiber-reinforced coating to a surface of a mat to form a coated mat and drying the coated mat to cure the fiber-reinforced coating. Some methods also include combining the mat with a panel material to form a mat-faced panel.
