Abstract:
A method for coating pigment particles is provided, the method comprising heating a polymer resin in a carrier fluid to dissolve the polymer resin, suspending in the carrier fluid the pigment particles to be coated; and effecting precipitation of the polymer resin from the carrier fluid, such that a coating of the resin is formed on the pigment particles.
Abstract:
There is provided a method of producing an electrostatic ink composition, the method comprising: mixing a resin, a liquid carrier, and a conductive metallic pigment having a coating of surfactant thereon, to form an electrostatic ink composition comprising the resin and the conductive metallic pigment dispersed in the liquid carrier. An electrostatic ink composition and a substrate are also described.
Abstract:
Example implementations provide a method of processing data associated with printing a plurality of separations; the method comprising creating, from the data associated with the plurality of separations, complementary separation layer data associated with the complement of data relating to an opaque separation of the plurality of separations.
Abstract:
Provided in one example herein is a liquid electrophotographic ink composition. The composition comprises: a carrier fluid comprising a polymer; ink particles each comprising a non-aqueous polymeric resin and pigment particles distributed in the polymeric resin; and a charge director. The pigment particles comprise a metal oxide and have a hydrophobic surface. The hydrophobic surface comprises at least one of the following: (i) nanoparticles attached to each of the pigment particles, the nanoparticles comprising at least one of an oxide, a phosphate, and a nitrate; (ii) a coating disposed over each of the pigment particles, the coating comprising at least one of an oxide, a phosphate, and a nitrate; and (iii) a coating disposed over each of the pigment particles, the coating comprising at least one of a polymer and an oligomer.
Abstract:
A method for coating pigment particles is provided, the method comprising heating a polymer resin in a carrier fluid to dissolve the polymer resin; suspending in the carrier fluid white pigment particles to be coated; and cooling the carrier fluid at a rate of 2 °C/hr or less to effect precipitation of the polymer resin from the carrier fluid such that a coating of the resin is formed on the pigment particles, thereby producing the white liquid electrophotographic ink composition.
Abstract:
Herein is disclosed a magenta liquid electrostatic ink composition comprising chargeable particles comprising a resin, a pigment, a liquid carrier in which the chargeable particles are dispersed, and a charge director, wherein the resin is formable from polymerising alkylene monomers and methacrylic or acrylic acid monomers, the pigment is selected from pigment violet 19 type α I pigment violet 19 type α II pigment violet 19 type β, pigment violet 19 type γ, pigment red 177, pigment red 208, pigment red 122 and pigment violet 32, and the liquid electrostatic ink composition lacks any other types of pigment. Also disclosed herein is a method of electrostatic printing and a print substrate having printed thereon the magenta liquid electrostatic ink composition.
