Abstract: An insulated liquid storage vessel such as a domestic hot water tank of which the insulation comprises a coating of an insulating material comprising glass microspheres in an aerogel matrix. The coating may be applied direct to the tank surface or to a conductive heating film that can substitute for an immersion heater.
