    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems, methods, and computer- readable media that use machine learning models to enable computing devices to detect and identify cosmetic products in face images. In some embodiments, a model training system may gather training data for building the machine learning models by analyzing face images associated with tagging data. In some embodiments, a recommendation system may be configured to use the machine learning models generated by the model training system to detect products in face images, and to add information based on the detected products to a look data store, and/or to provide recommendations for similar looks from the look data store based on the detected products.

    Abstract: A computing device obtains a digital image of a color calibration target for a product; obtains product information for the product; determines image adjustment information based on the digital image of the color calibration target; obtains a digital image of the product based on the image adjustment information; and transmits the image data of the product and the product information to a backend product computer system. Obtaining the product information for the product may include scanning a graphical code, such as a QR code or a bar code, or obtaining information from the product via short-range radio-frequency communication. The method may further include receiving a response from the backend product computer system, which may include additional product information. The color calibration target and encoded product information may be included in a QR code having three or more color regions.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a personalized cosmetic formula preparing system, a method of operating the system, and computer readable instructions for implementing the method. The system determines a personalized cosmetic formula for a consumer. The determination can be based on the consumer's preferences, lifestyle, and cosmetic attributes. The system comprises one or more beauty assessment devices (15), a digital hub (20) in communication with the one or more beauty assessment devices (15), a dispenser (40), and a mixer (50). The system may be used directly in communication with the consumer, or may automatically obtain the formula from other sources. The companion app may control the constituent elements of the system remotely via the digital hub (20). The formula preparing system may cause a personalized cosmetic formula to be prepared and packaged without complex or expensive equipment and without extensive cosmetic technical training for the operator of the system.

    Abstract: A method, system, and device for measuring and evaluating hair loss over time is disclosed. A instrumented comb device includes a power source, a controller, and associated sensors. The controller receives signals from the sensors, including a contact sensor to detect contact with a scalp and obtain a hair count, and a magnetic compass to determine location on the scalp. The controller includes one or more processors that acquire and record the detected contact information and determined location information as the comb device is stroked over a scalp, and measure hair density based on the contact information and location information. The instrumented comb can communicate with a remote information system or a mobile device for auxiliary processing and display. Machine learning of the remote information system allows for recognizing hair density or prediction of future trends in hair density over time using data recorded by the sensors.
