Abstract:
Plant nitrogen use efficiency in corn has been improved by transformation with a flavohemoglobin gene. Plants comprising a flavohemoglobin gene have decreased nitric oxide (NO) levels, increased biomass accumulation under a sufficient nitrogen growth condition, and increased chlorophyll content under a limiting nitrogen growth condition. Additionally, these transformed plants evidence higher levels of yield.
Abstract:
This invention provides recombinant DNA constructs, transgenic plant nuclei and cells with such recombinant DNA construct for expression of proteins that are useful for imparting enhanced agronomic trait(s) to transgenic crop plants. This invention also provides transgenic plants and progeny seed comprising the transgenic plant cells where the plants are selected for having an enhanced trait selected from the group of traits consisting of enhanced water use efficiency, enhanced cold tolerance, increased yield, enhanced nitrogen use efficiency, enhanced seed protein and enhanced seed oil. Also disclosed are methods for manufacturing transgenic seed and plants with enhanced traits.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides transgenic plants having enhanced traits such as increased yield, increased nitrogen use efficiency and enhanced drought tolerance; propagules, progeny and field crops of such transgenic plants; and methods of making and using such transgenic plants. This disclosure also provides methods of producing hybrid seed from such transgenic plants, growing such seed and selecting progeny plants with enhanced traits. Also disclosed are transgenic plants with altered phenotypes which are useful for screening and selecting transgenic events for the desired enhanced trait.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides transgenic seeds and plants with enhanced cold tolerance and cold vigor. The disclosure also provides methods of producing these transgenic plants and seeds. The present disclosure further provides methods of producing crops that can be grown under sub-optimum conditions and methods of increasing the yield of crop plants by extending growing season of a plant by earlier planting of transgenic seeds of the invention under sub-optimum growth conditions.
Abstract:
Transgenic maize with an enhanced phenotype from insertion of heterologous DNA. Enhanced phenotypes include yield such as yield under stress conditions, quality of plant morphology, physiology or seed composition, metabolic function, cell growth, and the like. Such transgenic maize is produced by generating a plurality of transgenic events for a plurality of unique transgenic DNA constructs where each of the transgenic events comprises introducing into the genome of a parental maize line a single transgenic DNA construct comprising a promoter operably linked to heterologous DNA in sufficient quantity to produce transgenic cells which can be cultured into plants of transgenic maize having the enhanced phenotype.
