Abstract: Method for adjusting the ignition advance, controlled by a computer (10), of an internal combustion engine (2) comprising at least one cylinder (3), this method involving the operations consisting, in the case of the computer (10), in: • - recording a number of cycles performed in the cylinder and the value of an ignition advance curative correction for each cycle, and • - calculating an ignition advance adaptive correction during which the computer (10) averages the curative correction value as a function of the number of cycles elapsed and then calculates an adaptive correction value on the basis of this average, the triggering of the task of calculating the adaptive correction occurring when a predefined number of cycles has been reached.
