Abstract:
Systems and methods for a wireless VoIP headset. A wireless VoIP headset including a speaker, microphone, controller for processing a digital audio signal to generate IP packets, and an IEEE 802.11 transceiver. The wireless VoIP headset includes a computer readable memory storing instructions that when executed by the controller cause the wireless VoIP headset to perform a method for originating a call. The method includes receiving a spoken name or number from a user at the microphone, interpreting the spoken name or number using embedded or server based voice recognition, comparing the spoken name or number to a directory stored in the computer readable memory, and generating a call origination request message. The directory may also be stored on an adjunct computing device.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for determining the donned or doffed state of a headset. In one example, a headset includes a processor, an acoustic transducer, and a detector operably coupled to the processor, the detector providing an output charge pattern corresponding to a state selected from the group consisting of the headset being donned and doffed. Advantageously, the present disclosure provides for reliably determining a donned or doffed state of a headset for efficiently routing calls, text messages, and/or otherwise being used for notifications and requests in a system.
Abstract:
A wireless local area network system and a headset for the system. The headset uses voice-input information to set up parameters needed to connect the headset to the corresponding access point and then start the connection process. When the connection fails or succeeds appropriate voice prompt or visible signal tells the user the headset's connection status.
Abstract:
A headset includes a voice print match application or speech recognition application. The voice print match application receives a user speech corresponding to a submitted voice print phrase key upon determining a donned condition, where the user speech is compared to the pre-determined voice print phrase key to validate an identity of the headset user. The speech recognition application receives a user speech corresponding to a password or PIN and recognizes the password or PIN. The recognized password or PIN is compared to a valid password or PIN to validate the identity of the headset user.
Abstract:
A user authentication system and method are disclosed. The user authentication system includes an authentication device which can be donned and doffed by the user, a sensor to determine whether the authentication device is donned or doffed by the user, and an authentication server to receive information from the sensor and to authenticate the user based on whether the authentication device is donned by the user.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method for automatically communicating audio availability is provided, the method including providing a headset donned or doffed state, providing the headset donned or doffed state to an instant messaging application, and communicating an audio availability status from the instant messaging application to a remote user interface. An applicable headset for performing the notification method described above is also disclosed.
