Abstract:
A coupling comprising a plurality of annular members (601,602,603) one nesting inside another, in which a one or more annular seals (22) mounted on a seal support (18) engage the spherical outer periphery of one of the outer or inner annular members.
Abstract:
A coupling (1,2) has an inner member (111) and an outer annular member (131) and an intermediate annular member (121) which when aligned share a common axis and have a common centre on the common axis. The inner and the intermediate annular member are constrained to rotate, one with respect to the other about a second axis perpendicular to the common axis. The intermediate annular member and the outer annular member are constrained to rotate, one with respect to the other about a third axis (Z) perpendicular to the common axis (X) and the second axis (Y). The members are spaced apart to leave a gap (103) between each of the members.
Abstract:
A coupling made having a male spherical bearing surface contacting the inner periphery of a contiguous female spherical race. The male bearing surface having a central axis of rotation and a cylindrical waist formed in the surface having an axis orthogonal to the axis of the male bearing surface. The diameter of the waist is such that it will fit within the orifice of the race.
Abstract:
A nut for a lead screw comprises two or more concentric annular members which, when aligned, have common axes. One member is contained within another member outside it. A first member has an outer convex spherical periphery and a second member has an inner spherical concave periphery, the peripheries being concentric with the centre, and the inner periphery of the second is engaged with the outer periphery of the first member. The second member is constrained to rotate about the fist member on an axis perpendicular to the common axis.
Abstract:
A coupling comprises a pair of members: a first member having an outer convex spherical periphery centred about a central point and a torsional axis extending through the central point, and a second annular member has an inner concave spherical periphery centred on the central point and complementary to the outer periphery of the inner first member. The spherical surfaces of the inner and outer members co-act to transmit radial loads there between and to transmit loads acting along the torsional axis there between. An axle arrangement extends radially of the central point and couples the first and second annular for transmitting torsional load from one to the other. The each of the pair of members is rotatable one relative to the other about the said central point in a direction constrained by the axle arrangement.
Abstract:
A constant velocity joint comprising two concentric couplings (1, 2), a first coupling (1) comprising an inner member (211), an intermediate annular member (221) and an outer annular member (231), the members being concentric. The inner member (231) of the second coupling (2) is common to the outer member (231) of the first coupling (1). The members of the couplings are constrained to rotate one with respect to another and the outer member of the second coupling is constrained to rotate angularly in respect of the common member in a way that is the mirror image of the rotation of the inner member with respect to the common member.
Abstract:
A coupling comprises at least an inner annular member, an intermediate annular member and an outer annular member. The intermediate and outer annular members are positioned with respect to one another and with respect to the inner member by driven gear wheels acting on gear teeth associated with the inner and intermediate members. By coupling the outer member of one coupling of a series of couplings to the inner member of the next coupling of the series, a robot arm may be constructed in which drive can be transmitted from one end of the series to the other. By changing the potions of the members of the couplings in the series, the orientation of the robot arm may be change
Abstract:
A coupling comprises an inner member (1) having an outer convex spherical periphery (S1) centred about a central point (C). The first inner member has a torsional axis (A1) extending through the central point. A second member outer ring (2) has an inner concave spherical periphery centred on the central point and complementary to the outer periphery of the inner member. One of the first inner member (1) and second member (2) has an elongate projection (M1) projecting parallel to a line extending radially of the central point into a corresponding elongate slot (K1) in the other. The slot and projection are elongate in a plane parallel the torsional axis (A1). The projection and slot act to transmit torque about the torsional axis (A1) from one to the other. The inner member and second member are rotatable one relative to the other about the said central point in a direction constrained by the projection and slot.
