Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify a base station capable of performing medium access control (MAC) based transmission configuration indication (TCI) switching. The UE may deactivate an autonomous beam switching mode based at least in part on the base station being capable of performing MAC based TCI switching. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for measurement reporting in beamformed communications. A user equipment (UE) may establish a connection with a serving cell using one or more refined beams, and may measure one or more quality metrics of the serving cell using a wider beam than the refined beam, which may provide a uniform comparison with measured quality metrics of other cells using wider beams. Further, the UE may apply a time threshold to one or more quality metric measurements to exclude older measurements from a measurement report. A base station or serving cell may configure the UE to perform quality metric measurements and apply time thresholds for reporting measurements, which may be enabled or disabled based on one or more parameters.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for scheduling component carriers and one or more operations on a per NB RF chain basis. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes monitoring occurrences of a first number of operations to be performed for a plurality of component carriers (CCs) according to different periodicities, determining a second number of available narrow band (NB) radio frequency (RF) chains, and scheduling, on the available NB RF chains, up to the second number of the operations to be performed for the plurality of CCs based on a scheduling algorithm if the first number is greater than the second number.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that enable a user equipment (UE) to select a speed mode for multiple cells. The UE may receive a system information message from the first cell that includes an indication of a speed parameter. The UE may select a speed mode for operation based on the received speed parameter. For example, the UE may determine to operate according to a speed mode when communicating with the second cell based on system information received from the first cell. In some examples, the UE may perform one or more procedures according to a set of parameters corresponding to the selected speed mode.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for enhanced radio resource control (RRC) reestablishment in a communication system include addressing repeated radio link failures (RLFs). For example, the methods and apparatus include incrementing a counter value associated with a first cell based on a detection of a RLF by a user equipment (UE) in a RRC connected state with the first cell. The methods and apparatus further include determining that the counter value meets or exceeds a first barring threshold value within a cell barring evaluation time duration. Additionally, the methods and apparatus include prohibiting the UE from performing an RRC reestablishment procedure with the first cell for a first barring time duration.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for wireless communication, and more particularly, to methods and apparatus that utilize one or more user equipment (UE) panic states under connected discontinuous reception (C-DRX) mode in long term evolution (LTE).
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for signaling and scheduling to enable network configured small gaps in intra-band inter-frequency measurement. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a serving cell operating on a first frequency, an indication that synchronization signal block (SSB) indexes of a target cell operating on a second frequency can be derived from timing of the serving cell; and deriving an SSB index of the target cell, based on the timing of the serving cell.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a user equipment (UE) may identify one or more candidate beams that have a better channel metric than a serving beam. The UE may initiate a beam switch measurement counter, and perform one or more measurements on the identified candidate beams. In the event that one of the candidate beams is better than the serving beam for each measurement of the one or more measurements, the UE may perform a beam switch procedure to switch from the serving beam to the candidate beam.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may perform a cell search using a first set of beams. The UE may determine a channel condition value based at least in part on performing the cell search. The UE may modify the channel condition value based at least in part on at least one of: the first set of beams used to perform the cell search, a beam selected from the first set of beams, or a second set of beams that is different from the first set of beams and that is included in a beamforming codebook associated with the UE. The UE may transmit a measurement report that includes the modified channel condition value. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, by a user equipment (UE), a measurement configuration message from a network entity and determining, by the UE, a list of candidate cells for a measurement report. The method also includes determining, by the UE, to remove one or more candidate cells from the list of candidate cells based on one or more physical broadcast channel (PBCH) quality conditions to generate a modified list of candidate cells. The method further includes generating, by the UE, a measurement report based on the modified list of candidate cells, and transmitting, by the UE, the measurement report. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.
