Abstract:
A method of wireless communication includes controlling, by a Gap Usage Policy Manager, a rate of forced measurement gap requests (602, 606) for a serving radio access technology, RAT, to measure a target RAT based on an impact to quality of service on the serving RAT by forced measurement gaps.
Abstract:
In certain wireless communications systems, such as TD-SCDMA, frames are divided into sections allocated for various communication purposes such as uplink and downlink transmissions. In such schemes, there may be no mechanism to generate gaps for a UE to employ for non-allocated purposes, such as inter-frequency or inter-RAT measurement. To generate gaps for such purposes the UE may employ rate-matching techniques to take certain allocated time slots for the UE and reserve them for inter-RAT measurement or other purposes. The rate-matching techniques generate unconfigured slots.
Abstract:
Described herein are various aspects related to utilizing a shared transmitter in a multiple subscription user equipment (UE). Usage of a transmitter for uplink communications by a first subscription of a UE can be predicted over a period of time, wherein the first subscription has higher priority for using the transmitter than a second subscription of the UE. The predicted usage of the transmitter over the period of time can be mapped to a timeline of the second subscription. Usage of the transmitter for uplink communications by the second subscription of the UE can then be scheduled over at least a portion of the period of time based at least in part on mapping the predicted usage of the transmitter by the first subscription to the timeline of the second subscription.
Abstract:
In the context of a inter radio access technology (inter-RAT) handover (e. g., from TD-SCDMA and LTE), when the UE determines that a received signal characteristic is less than a signal characteristic threshold after expiry of the time-to-trigger, TTT, timer, and that a target RAT frequency measurement associated with a Measurement Report Message (MRM) for performing an inter-RAT (IRAT) handover cannot be completed within a time limit according to a current measurement gap configuration, a UE calculating a measurement gap duration sufficient to complete the target RAT frequency measurement associated with the MRM for performing the IRAT handover, the UE requesting the network to configure it with this measurement gap configuration prior to the time limit, preferably by aggregating the previously configured discontinuous measurement gaps.
Abstract:
A method of wireless communication includes a user equipment determining a current transmit power. The method also includes the user equipment disabling a request for an increased data rate when the current transmit power is greater than or equal to a power threshold. In some cases, the request for the increased data rate includes transmitting an event 4A measurement report.
Abstract:
A process includes determining an unallocated communication frame of a first radio access technology (RAT) using a dedicated physical channel (DPCH) with a time division multiplexing scheme. Measurements are then performed to identify for a second RAT during a time allocated to the unallocated communication frame.
Abstract:
A method of wireless communication is presented. The method includes receiving a transport format combination indicator (TFCI) indicating a number of blocks and a block size for data to be sent on downlink time slots of a current frame and/or a subsequent frame. The method also includes determining when data is not expected to be received on an allocated downlink time slot and performing neighbor cell measurement during the allocated downlink time slot.
