A pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system is provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). A method of transmitting a beacon signal and a device using the same are provided. The method includes configuring beacon-related information; generating a beacon signal based on the configured beacon-related information; and transmitting the beacon signal, wherein the beacon-related information includes at least one piece of mode information corresponding to distance information between a beacon transmitting device and at least one beacon receiving device. The present disclosure relates to a sensor network, Machine Type Communication (MTC), Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication, and technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the above technologies, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services.

A method and a system for controlling an external device by authorizing a specified device to temporarily control the external device, and a non-transitory computer readable medium storing the same are provided. An external device control method, which is performed by a first device authorized to control the external device, includes transmitting information regarding at least one external device to a second device while an interactive service is executed between the first device and the second device, receiving information regarding a selected external device based on the information regarding the at least one external device from the second device, and transmitting control User Interface (UI) information regarding the selected external device to the second device based on the information regarding the selected external device.

An apparatus and method control a controllable device in a portable terminal. The apparatus includes a device register unit, an input unit, a memory unit, a gesture detector, a controller, and a contents transmitter. The device register unit registers controllable devices to partial regions of an output screen. The input unit generates input data for controllable device registration or user's input data for controllable device selection. The memory unit stores information of the controllable devices registered by the device register unit. The gesture detector senses a user's input capable of determining direction. The controller detects a controllable device corresponding to the user's input. The contents transmitter transmits contents to the controllable device detected by the controller.

A vehicle information processing system performed by using an external apparatus and method are provided. The vehicle information processing method performed by using an external apparatus connected to a vehicle includes identifying a control authority of an external apparatus, which is connected to the vehicle, for communication between the external apparatus and the vehicle, transmitting service information that may be used according to the identified control authority, and executing a service, according to the transmitted service information, that is selected by the external apparatus, by using a processor which is included in the external apparatus.

A device management method of a first device having a list of wireless communication-enabled devices according to the present disclosure includes transmitting a first message requesting second device information, when it is necessary to check connection status of a second device performing wireless communication with the devices contained in the list, comparing the second device previously stored information and the second device information contained in the second message, when a second message including the second device information is received in response to the first message, and transmitting a recovery command message with the first device information, when the second device information included in the second message differs from the previously stored second device information.

A method for determining a location of a target device and an electronic device thereof are provided. The method includes acquiring an image photographing a first electronic device, determining a distance between the second electronic device and the first electronic device based on the acquired image, determining a direction in which the second electronic device photographs the first electronic device, determining a location of any one of the first electronic device and the second electronic device based on the decided distance and direction, and registering the determined location.

The controller establishes a network connection with a peripheral terminal using network information acquired through a code image. The image acquisition unit captures the code image generated by the peripheral terminal. The code image analyzer analyzes the code image acquired by the image acquisition unit and acquires the network information of the peripheral terminal. The code image includes at least any one of network information of the peripheral terminal, code image generation information, and information on an automatic execution program to be automatically executed after code image recognition.

The user terminal also includes a location information acquisition unit for acquiring information regarding a location where the call is performed. The user terminal further includes a call history generator for generating a call history of the user terminal based on the acquired time information and the acquired location information. The user terminal still further includes a phone number recommendation unit for generating a phone number recommendation list based on the generated call history, a current location of the user terminal, and a current time. The user terminal also includes a display unit for displaying the generated phone number recommendation list.
