Abstract:
A method for generating a key hierarchy by a MS in a wireless network is provided. The method includes transmitting an authentication request message to a new BS, receiving an authentication response message as a response message to the authentication request message from the new BS, determining whether to perform a full authentication operation with a H3A server based on the authentication response message, performing the full authentication operation or a crypto-handshake operation with the H3A server based on the determining result, after performing the full authentication operation or the crypto-handshake operation, determining whether a first expected signature value received from the new BS is identical to a first expected signature value calculated by the MS, and if the first expected signature value received from the new BS is equal to a first expected signature value calculated by the MS, determining that an authentication for the new BS has succeeded.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for performing Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) communication at a network node in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes receiving, by the network node that controls a connection between a Mobile Station (MS) and a data network, a TCP KeepAlive packet for maintaining a TCP connection established between a correspondent node and the MS through the data network from the correspondent node, determining whether the MS is in an idle mode in response to the reception of the TCP KeepAlive packet by the network node, if the MS is in the idle mode, transmitting an acknowledgement packet in response to the TCP KeepAlive packet to the correspondent node by the network node, and transmitting indication information indicating the reception of the TCP KeepAlive packet to the MS by the network node.
Abstract:
An apparatus performs a method for managing mobility of a terminal by a Base Station (BS) in a wireless communication system. The method includes receiving information on whether a time for which a terminal had been located at a cell managed by a first BS before the terminal has moved to a cell managed by the BS is equal to or longer than a predetermined threshold. The method also includes controlling data transmission/reception of the terminal by using one of an address allocated to the terminal by the BS or an address allocated to the terminal by a home server according to whether the time for which the terminal had been located at the cell managed by the first BS is equal to or longer than the predetermined threshold.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for providing selective Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) for a ranging service in a wireless communication system are provided. A HARQ method includes transmitting, to at least one Mobile Station (MS), ranging code division information, and if a ranging code is received from the MS, allocating the MS a resource considering the ranging code, and if a ranging signal is not received through the resource allocated to the MS, making a request for retransmission of the ranging signal to the MS.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for controlling sleep cycle synchronization of a sleep mode in a wireless communication system are provided. A method of operating a Mobile Station (MS) in a sleep mode state includes, if a traffic indication message and unicast data are not received during a listening window, transmitting one of a request message and a header to a Base Station (BS) to request a location of a next-scheduled listening window, and if a response for the one of the request message and the header is received, performing synchronization for a next sleep cycle.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system and a method of signal transmission/reception by a mobile station in a wireless communication system. The method includes: transmitting a first sub-band preparation indicator, which indicates that the mobile station has been prepared for transmission/reception of a signal through a first sub-band, to a base station through a primary band; transmitting a first sub-band failure indicator to the base station through the primary band upon detecting failure in transmitting the first sub-band preparation indicator; receiving sub-band information on a second sub-band, which is different from the first sub-band, from the BS through the primary band; and acquiring synchronization with the second sub-band, so as to enable transmission/reception of a signal through the second sub-band based on the sub-band information.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for providing relay link zone information in a multi-hop relay BWA communication system, where a BS performs a network entry procedure with an RS during an initial access of the RS to the BS, generates a message including relay link zone information regarding a relay link zone in which the BS communicates with the RS, processes the message in a physical layer, and transmits the processed message to the RS.
Abstract:
A CID management method and apparatus in a multi-hop relay BWA communication system are provided. A BS combines data destined for an RS and data to be relayed to an MS via the RS in a payload, distinguishing the data by CIDs, attaches a relay CID to the payload, and sends the payload with the relay CID to the RS. Among the data of the payload, the RS processes its data and relays to the MS the data destined for the MS by distinguishing them by the CIDs.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a signal relaying method and system in a communication system including an mobile subscriber station (MSS), a base station (BS), afirst relay station located between the MSS and the BS, a second relay station between the MSS and the BS are provided. In the system, the first relay station or second relay station relays signals between the BS and the MSS if the MSS is within the cell coverage of the BS, and the first second relay station relays signals between the BS and the MSS if the MSS is out of the cell coverage of the BS.
Abstract:
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A divided Media Access Control (MAC) protocol structure, a data transmission and reception method, and a handover method and system using the structure in a wireless communication system for efficiently managing session information in handover of an MSS (Mobile Subscriber Station). In the MAC protocol structure, a MAC is divided into a MAC-high layer and a MAC-low layer. The MAC-high layer performs session information-related functions and the MAC-low layer performs functions sensitive to a time delay in relation to handover of an MSS. In the handover method, when an MSS in the wireless communication system performs handover between Access Points (APs), session information is managed at a fixed position by an Access Point Controller (APC) including an MAC-high layer or a serving AP. Therefore, the system load can be reduced and communication quality can be improved.
