Abstract:
An apparatus (10) is disclosed for providing a fluid communication path to a wound site through a drape. The apparatus (10) comprises a body portion (18, 78) having a lower surface (20) and an upper surface (21, 23), at least one connection port (24), at least one suction port (28, 29) and at least one fluid communication passageway between the connection port (24) and the suction port (28, 29). A connector (17, 77) at an end of at least one tubular conduit (16) is locatable through the drape into an orifice (24) in the connection port (24) to thereby provide a fluid communication path (42) through the drape between the tubular conduit (16) and the wound site.
Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods disclosed herein relate to various embodiments of wound fillers that, in some cases, preferentially collapse in one direction as compared to another direction. Such apparatuses and methods may aid in the closure of wounds and may further be used in combination with pressure sensors and controllers to provide for controlled collapse of the wound fillers.
