The method includes receiving (310) a request message for content, determining (320) whether the content is available in a shared virtual cache, wherein the shared virtual cache is shared by a plurality of virtual network devices in the virtualized network, obtaining (350) the content from an upstream network device in response to a determination that the content is not available in the shared virtual cache, storing (360) the content in the shared virtual cache to make the content available to the plurality of virtual network devices, and sending (370) a response message containing the content towards an originator of the request message for the content.

There is provided a method in a serving node of an information centric network, the method comprising: receiving an interest message referring to a first content object from a requesting node; processing the name of the first content object and the payload of the received interest message to generate the name of a second content object; and replying to the interest message with a redirect message, wherein the redirect message comprises the name of the second content object.

There is provided a requesting node in an information centric network, the node arranged to send a request for a named content item relating to particular content, the request indicating that all related named content items required for presentation of the particular content are also requested. The node is further arranged to store the request in an interest table, and receive a plurality of named content items in response to the request, and upon receipt of a named content item that indicates that no more additional named content items are to be received in response to the request, then the request is deleted from the interest table.

It is disclosed an originating node (22), a router node (24) and a source node (26), and methods therein for allowing updates of information objects in Information centric networking (ICN). By introducing a field in a request for an update of an information update, where the field comprises validity aspects specifying conditions for which the request is valid, a single request may be treated as a request for a subscription of updates of an information object, and several updates may be communicated as responses to the single request. It is an advantage that these updates may be communicated to a large number of request originating nodes.

An access node (20) of a cellular network receives an information centric networking request of a user equipment (10) for a data object. The access node forwards the information centric networking request to a local gateway (30) associated with the access node (20). The local gateway (30) maintains a pending interest table including an entry for each data object having a pending information centric networking request at the local gateway (30). In response to the user equipment (10) moving from a coverage area of the access node (20) to a coverage area of a further access node (21), the access node (20) and the further access node (21) perform a handover procedure. The further access node (21) is associated with a further local gateway (31) maintaining a further pending interest table. The further pending interest table includes an entry for each data object having a pending information centric networking request at the further local gateway (31). The handover procedure initiates alignment of the pending interest table and the further pending interest table with respect to at least one entry associated with the user equipment (10).
