Abstract: The invention relates to a linear synchronous motor comprising a long stator (1) having coil windings (S) and a rotor (2), which has a multiplicity of successive magnets (3) in the longitudinal direction (x) of the linear synchronous motor, wherein the long stator (1) is formed from a multiplicity of long stator segments (4), which each have a plurality of coil windings (S) arranged successively in the longitudinal direction and which are separated from one another by a gap (5, 5'). According to the invention, the total length (LG) of in each case one long stator segment (4) and an adjacent gap (5) is constant over a multiplicity of successive long stator segments (4), wherein the length (LL) measured in the longitudinal direction (x) over all of the magnets (3) of the rotor (2) is an integral multiple of the total length (LG).
