Abstract: A method for producing a porous carbon material and a porous carbon material produced thereafter are described. The method comprises the formation of an unsatured polymer having a porous structure by polymerization of at least on carbonaceous monomer in a monomer phase of a monomer-water emulsion, the transformation of the unsaturated polymer by chemical and/or physical treatment and the carbonization of the transformed polymer by thermal treatment.
