Abstract:
A medication injection device includes a barrel and a plunger disposed to dispense a fluid from the barrel. A dosage tracking system is coupled to output data indicative of the fluid dispensed. A controller is disposed within the medication injection device and coupled to receive the data from the dosage tracking system. The controller includes logic that when executed by the controller causes the controller to perform operations including determining, based on the data, whether an air shot event occurred while dispensing the fluid.
Abstract:
Embodiments are disclosed of an eye-mountable device (300) including a lens enclosure including an anterior layer (305) and a posterior layer (310) sealed to the anterior layer. An anterior electrode (315) is disposed within the lens enclosure on a concave side of the anterior layer, a posterior electrode (320) is disposed within the lens enclosure on a convex side of the posterior layer, and an element (325) changing colour or opacity on demand is disposed across a central region of the lens enclosure, wherein the element separates the anterior electrode (315) from the posterior electrode (320) within the central region and can comprise liquid crystal material with a guest dye or electro-chromic material.
Abstract:
An apparatus and methods for tracking administering of medication by syringes is provided. The apparatus may include a plunger head for a syringe. The plunger head may include a transducer that sends and receives ultrasonic signals. The plunger may also include an antenna and a microcontroller that interfaces with the transducer and the antenna. The plunger may also include a power source that powers the microcontroller and the transducer. The transducer, the antenna, the microcontroller, and the power source may be at least partially encapsulated in an elastomer housing that fits within a barrel of the syringe. The microcontroller may be programmed with instructions to calculate data representative of the quantity of medication dispensed from the barrel and transmit the data to a remote device via the antenna.
Abstract:
A reader device includes an array of antenna coils configured to electromagnetically couple with devices implanted beneath or within skin of a human body. An implanted device can include a loop antenna or other means configured to couple with at least one antenna coil of the reader device to receive radio frequency energy from and transmit radio frequency transmissions to the reader device. The antenna coil array is configured to mount to the skin surface to improve the coupling between the implanted device and coils of the array. Further, the reader device is configured to select one or more antenna coils of the array and to operate the selected antenna coil to communicate, via radio frequency transmissions, with and/or provide radio frequency power to the implanted device. An antenna coil of the array can be selected based on a detected amount of coupling with the implanted device.
Abstract:
Various apparatuses and methods for tracking the administration of medication by medication injection devices are provided. A plunger head for a medication injection device may include a first component that houses electronic components and a second component that couples to the first component to form the plunger head. When the plunger head is installed within a barrel of the medication injection device the second component may separate the first component from medication contained within the barrel.
Abstract:
Systems are provided for neuro stimulation. In one implementation, a system is provided that includes a stimulator introduced into tissue at a target location and a central controller that communicates wirelessly with the stimulator. The stimulator includes a power system that receives wireless energy transmission, and an electrode system that transmits an electrical pulse for stimulating the target location. The central controller includes a power system that wirelessly delivers power to the stimulator, a communication system that wirelessly communicates with the stimulator, and a processing system that controls the power system and the communication system. The central controller may instruct the stimulator to transmit one or more electrical pulses to the target location to affect an endocrine function (e.g., affect the glucose level of a patient).
