Abstract:
A syringe for withdrawing an aspirate from a body for micro fat grafting is provided. The syringe includes a barrel having an inner wall extending therein. The inner wall has one or more apertures formed therein allowing the aspirate to contact an absorbent positioned between the inner wall and an outer wall of the barrel. A plunger moves longitudinally within the barrel along the inner wall and has a gasket attached to a proximal end forming a seal against the inner wall. The absorbent may take many forms to absorb a non-fat cell portion of the aspirate. A related method includes retracting the plunger from a first position to draw the aspirate from a harvest site of a body into the barrel, exposing the aspirate to the absorbent, and moving the plunger toward the first position so a remaining portion of the aspirate is no longer exposed to the absorbent.
Abstract:
An enteral feeding tube includes a tube body particularly adapted or configured to resist kinking and clogging. That tube body is characterized by a particular equation.
Abstract:
A system for determining components of matter removed from a body includes a container for receiving the matter, a device for weighing the container and the matter therein, an instrument for obtaining information relating to at least one aspect of the matter, and a processor programmed to determine the components of the matter based in part on a weight of the matter determined by said device and the information relating to the at least one aspect of the matter obtained by said instrument. A display includes a screen for displaying information relating to the matter provided by said processor. The information may include a height and/or a color of the matter among other aspects. An insert containing an absorbent material may be utilized to separate fat cells from a fluid when liposuction is used to remove the matter. The insert may be porous allowing fluid to enter for absorption.
Abstract:
A tube assembly for placement within a patient includes a tube having a lumen, a proximal end portion, and a distal end portion attached to a dissolvable tip. The dissolvable tip may have an axial passageway and at least one non-axial vent. Once the assembly is positioned within the patient, the tip is dissolved by gastrointestinal fluids thereby providing an unobstructed distal tube end for material to flow through.
Abstract:
A system for monitoring medical waste fluids obtained from one or more patients includes a sending unit associated with each of the one or more patients, and a remote data storage system. The sending unit includes a container for receiving the fluids from a patient via an inlet tube, a device for obtaining information relating to at least one aspect of the fluids in said container, a processor programmed to receive the information from said device and to determine a volume of the fluids, and a transmitter for transmitting data including the determined volume. The remote data storage system includes a receiver for receiving the transmitted data for storage within the remote data storage system.
Abstract:
A temporary tube placement system includes a tube having a proximal end and a distal end, a camera supported by the tube at the distal end, a plurality of fiber optic filaments through which light from a light source travels from the proximal end to the distal end, a screen for displaying images from the camera, and a power source electrically attached to the camera and the light source. The enteral tube includes a tube having a distal end portion for placement within a patient and a proximal end portion and a lumen increasing in cross section from the proximal end portion toward the distal end portion along at least a portion of the tube.
