Abstract:
Compositions for reducing skin aging are disclosed herein. The compositions can be topically applied to a skin region to reduce or prevent skin wrinkles, fine lines, thinning skin, sagging skin, skin dryness, and skin itchiness.
Abstract:
A fiber that has a unique surface topography in that it contains a plurality of nanohairs extending outwardly from an external surface of an elongate structure of the fiber is provided. To form the nanohairs, a polymer composition is spun that includes organofunctional nanoparticles (e.g., polyhedral organofunctional silsesquioxanes) embedded within a matrix of a base polymer. Despite being initially embedded within the polymer, the present inventors have discovered that, through selective control over the nature and relative concentration of the components of the composition, as well as the method in which the fiber is formed, a substantial portion of the nanoparticles can migrate to the surface of the fiber as it is formed and thus become arranged in the form of nanohairs.
Abstract:
A delivery system containing an active agent within a polymeric material formed from a thermoplastic composition is provided. Through selective control over the particular nature of the thermoplastic composition, as well as the manner in which it is formed, the present inventors have discovered that a porous network can be created that contains a plurality of micropores and nanopores. The ability to create such a multimodal pore size distribution can allow the delivery rate of an active agent to be tailored for a particular use.
Abstract:
The present disclosure offers an improvement in papermaking methods and products, by providing a tissue sheet and a method to obtain a tissue sheet, with improved absorbency at a given basis weight. Thus, by way of example, the present disclosure provides a single ply tissue sheet having a basis weight greater than about 50 gsm and a specific vertical absorbent capacity greater than about 6.0 g/g.
Abstract:
A permanently closed containment pant includes an elastically extensible chassis and a sling positioned within the chassis. The sling is joined to the front waist region and the back waist region. The sling includes a fluid-impervious base sheet and a containment flap joined with the base sheet to create a fluid-impervious pouch. The sling also includes a first transition and a second transition that are elastically extensible in a longitudinal direction and in a transverse direction. The base sheet is a fabric laminated with polyurethane and the containment flap is a fabric laminated with polyurethane. The polyurethane surface of the base sheet is ultrasonically joined in facing relationship with the polyurethane surface of the containment flap. The permanently closed containment pant is substantially devoid of an integrated absorbent core.
Abstract:
A dispensing container includes a plurality of sheets of products stored within a housing. The container includes a dispensing orifice having a length that extends along a longitudinal axis from a first end to a second end. In particular embodiments, the dispensing orifice has a maximum width disposed not less than 20% and not more than 49% of the distance from the first end to the second end, a midpoint width disposed halfway between the first end and the second end, the midpoint width being less than the maximum width, and a third width disposed 80% of the distance from the first end to the second end, the third width being no greater than 80% of the maximum width. In particular embodiments, the dispensing orifice is symmetrical about a longitudinal axis but asymmetrical about a transverse axis. In particular embodiments, the dispensing orifice has an ovoid shape.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a color-changing composition and to a substrate having the color-changing compositions disposed thereon. The color- changing composition includes a leuco dye, a color-developer and a desensitizer. The color-changing composition changes from a colorless or largely colorless composition to color upon being wetted with an aqueous liquid. The color-changing composition remains colorless or largely colorless prior to exposure to high relative humidity conditions.
Abstract:
An absorbent article is configured for controlled deformation when insulted by a user and includes an absorbent body having a body-facing surface, a garment-facing surface, and a first graphic visible at the body-facing surface; and a deformable top component positioned adjacent to the body-facing surface, the top component having a longitudinal direction, a transverse direction, a longitudinally- extending centerline, a transverse-extending centerline, and a peripheral edge, wherein the top component includes an attached region and a cantilevered region, and wherein the cantilevered region includes a translucent portion through which the first graphic is at least partially visible. The article also includes a fluid shrinkable string attached to the deformable top component in a pattern capable of providing forces to the top component when insulted by a user.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an algal fiber material comprising at least one metal ion selected from the group consisting of copper, iron, manganese, potassium, silver, nickel, zinc, cadmium and combinations thereof, wherein said algal fiber is used for personal care or other consumer product applications selected from antimicrobial activity, odor removal, gas removal, and combinations thereof. The present invention also relates to substrates such as a nonwoven comprising an algal biomass fiber material comprising at least one metal ion selected from the group consisting of copper, iron, manganese, potassium, silver, nickel, zinc, cadmium and combinations thereof, wherein said metal-laden algal biomass fiber is present in an amount of from about 1% to about 30%, by weight of the substrate.
Abstract:
An occult blood detection composition is used for various applications including that of predicting the start of menstruation. The composition may be applied to various devices to create a sensor, such devices include a feminine pad or shield, a badge, a swab or a wipe. The composition may be part of a kit wherein one component of the composition is applied to a device for the consumer. The remaining component of the composition, in liquid form, is applied to the device by the consumer prior to use.
