Abstract:
A composting structure and process is described for a livestock operation. The structure handles manure and treats it over a continuous 25 to 30 day process to produce compost therefrom. The structure includes a elongate walled area into which manure is piled, aerated and mixed while it is moved toward an output end. The structure is sized to handle 25 to 30 days worth of manure from the livestock operation which it services. The aeration is provided by an in-floor system of tubes arranged in zones so that the amount of air injected in the various zones can be selected.
Abstract:
An improved soil-working apparatus (5) is described in which the drive power is introduced above the axis (33) into the tiller drum (30) and is delivered to the drive element (60) arranged inside the latter. The tools (40) have at least one cutting edge (43a, 43b) for each sense of rotation of the tiller drum (30). On at least one side, the tiller drum (30) can be rotatably mounted on a drum flange (34) which is connected above the axis of rotation (33) of the tiller drum (30) to a lever (15), which is in turn connected to the drivable arrangement. The drive power is delivered by the lever (15). The drive element can be a wheel hub motor (65) or a gear wheel (64) which, by means of a gear (63) guided in the lever (15), is connected to a drive motor disposed externally of the drum.
Abstract:
Apparatus for removing manure from a manure pit or lagoon (16) comprises an elongate screw type auger (10) having an inlet end (26) which is inserted into the manure, and a suction hose (12) from a vacuum wagon (14) connected to auger outlet (28). The combined action of the mechanical auger screw (24) with the applied suction is effective in removing manure of widely varying liquid content from the pit or lagoon (16).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a mixer assembly for agitating material in a digestion tank (1), comprising a drive unit (7, 8, 9) and an output shaft (10) extending from said drive unit, which output shaft is arranged to hang down into said digestion tank (1) rotatably suspended from the drive unit. According to the invention the mixer assembly (6) furthermore comprises a stabilizer (12) comprising a swivel (13) and at least one resilient element (14) connected to said swivel (13), the stabilizer (12) being connected to the lower end of the output shaft (10) of the mixer assembly (6) and being arranged to be connected to a floor (2) of said digestion tank.
Abstract:
Method for drying slurry, comprising the steps of: providing an air-permeable drying bed with a suitable carrier material, arranging, for instance spraying, on the drying bed the (semi-liquid) slurry, drawing in and/or blowing drying air and guiding this air through the drying bed; removing thus dried (semi-liquid) slurry, shuffling the carrier material at chosen times, measuring quantities of the drying air; measuring quantities of air guided through the drying bed; and arranging the (semi-liquid) slurry, shuffling the carrier material and removing dried (semi-liquid) slurry on the basis of the measured quantities.
Abstract:
The apparatus comprises a motor (16) which is mounted on a float and in which the motor drives an impeller device (20) which extends below the liquid surface (11), with the motor (16) being mounted in a chamber (12) which is fully sealed from the liquid and which serves as a float (10). The apparatus may be fitted with a supply conduit (30) in order to bring gas, such as air, from above the liquid surface to the vicinity of the impeller device (20). The apparatus may be used for the treatment, mixing and/or aeration of liquids such as for example waste water.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a tank (1) for materially converting organic substances, having a circumferential wall and an agitator (10) having a drive axis (8), wherein the agitator (10) is disposed having the drive axis (8) at least partially in an agitator channel (6), wherein a drive side opening (13) of the agitator channel (6) is disposed above half of the standard fill height (h') of the digestion tank (1).
Abstract:
The invention concerns an adaptation of a propeller agitator for agitating liquid fertiliser in a farming context in order to achieve improved possibilities for transport. Said agitator is normally rigidly connected to its towing tractor and extends longitudinally behind same in the form of a rigid element, whereupon it poses a traffic risk, particularly in connection with turns on narrow roads. The solution according to the invention involves incorporating a hinged joint essentially in the middle of the agitator and collapsing it to approximately half its length.
Abstract:
A plant for the treatment of zoo-technical sewage includes: a basin (2), intended to accommodate the sewage and a material of vegetable origin (100) in a minced form; stirrers (6) and aerators (8) for the material of vegetable origin (100), impregnated with the sewage and associated stuff in basin (2). Said stirrers (6) being adapted to cause the material of vegetable origin (100) to be mixed with the sewage to form a homogeneous biomass which is, in turn, mixed; said aerators (8) being adapted to blow in air into the biomass, thus helping it to be dehydrated and fermented.
Abstract:
A barn for raising hogs includes walls, a roof, and a floor within the structure for supporting the hogs, the floor being solid such that materials on the floor settle on the floor without passing therethrough and being capable of supporting an animal and the floor including at least one sloped surface and a waste collection area at a lower end of the sloped surface and an animal feeding station adjacent an upper end of the sloped surface. A process is also taught for raising hogs it includes confining hogs on a solid floor, applying compostable, fibrous material to the solid floor, collecting manure-soiled fibrous material from the floor and composting the manure-soiled fibrous material to form a nutrient rich material suitable for use as a compost soil or soil supplement.
