Abstract:
Improvements in an agricultural manual sprayer for preventing leakage of fluids such as insecticides, herbicides or fungicides that comprises tank with a large storage capacity into which a pressure vessel is installed. A manually activated pumping assembly is connected with the inferior section of the pressure vessel and also with the inferior section of the tank. The pumping assembly comprises a reciprocating piston pump for extracting the fluid from the storage tank and pressurizing it within the pressure vessel. The pressurized fluid is applied with a hose and a throttle valve attached to the pressure vessel. The assembly also comprises a double walled piston and barrier against leakage consisting of a ring with interior lips which seal it against the cylinder preventing the exit of fluid, forcing it to remain in the collection chamber until it is emptied with the downward movement of the piston.

Abstract:
An apparatus for performing grounds maintenance functions and dispensing a fluid includes a grounds maintenance device and a fluid spraying device. The spraying device includes a container mounted on the grounds maintenance device for holding the fluid, and a spraying member in communication with the container for spraying the fluid. The spraying member is moveable from a carrying position in which the spraying member is carried on the grounds maintenance device to a spraying position in which the spraying member is moveable independent of the grounds maintenance device.
Abstract:
A pressure-limiting pump system (28’) for pressurizing a vessel(12’), including a plunger (26’) terminating in a piston (42’) loose-fitting within a cylinder (30’). The piston (42’) includes a flange (58’) forming the lip of an annular groove in the piston for supporting an O-ring seal (74’). The groove is provided with a plurality of ports terminating in the piston (42’) within the cylinder (30’). The O-ring (74’) is slidable on the piston groove surface. On the intake stroke, the O-ring (74’) moves to uncover the ports, and on the compression stroke, the O-ring (74’) moves to cover the ports to seal the compression chamber. When pressure exceeds a predetermined level, further compression causes air to bypass the O-ring (74’) and escape from the chamber, thereby limiting system pressure. The pump (28’) system may be mounted on-axis or off-axis in a tank sidearm (80). A handle (50’) is secured to the sprayer tank via shoulder inserts and is pivotable out of the way when filling the tank, yet can be locked in position as desired by a shift in pivot position.
Abstract:
A hand held liquid applicator suitable for the application of a liquid to a substrate by a user, the hand held liquid applicator consisting of a roller, a carrier and a liquid supply line, the carrier characterised by enabling the liquid to be supplied via the supply line to the roller for application to the substrate by direct contact whilst being hand held by the user when the user is standing or walking with a predominantly upright posture upon the substrate and a method of treating plants and insects with a liquid applied with a hand held liquid applicator as described.
Abstract:
The invention relates to portable hand-operated agricultural sprayer featuring two modular chemical containers for sequential use in the application of chemicals on agricultural crops or on weeds with application in agriculture. The sprayer is equipped with shoulder straps (3) for securing on operator's back and consists of two modular containers assembled to one another, respectively first container (1) for herbicide and second container (2) for herbicide neutralizer. On the openings of the containers (1, 2) there is a cap for herbicide (4) on which there are air valves (5, 8) and finned connectors (6, 9) to which are connected the first flexible hose for herbicide (10) and the second flexible hose for herbicide neutralizer (11) each of which is equipped with first valve (13) for herbicide and second valve (14) for herbicide neutralizer. Each of the valves (13, 14) is connected to a lug (15) and to the first tube (24) is attached second tube (25), the first tube (24) being connected via the first valve (13) to the first flexible hose for herbicide (10), and the second tube (25) being connected via the second valve (14) to the second flexible hose for herbicide neutralizer (11). At the ends of these tubes (14, 25) are located the first nozzle for herbicide (28) and the second nozzle for herbicide neutralizer (29) mounted on tubular housing (27); the diameter of the opening of each nozzle is between 0.5 and 1.2 mm, the nozzle length is between 18 and 32 mm, and the wall thickness is between 0.1 and 0.5 mm. The first modular container (1) is tightly fit to the second modular container (2) using wedged grooves (32) and protruding wedge ridges (33). The first valve for herbicide (13) and the second valve for herbicide neutralizer (14) are located within the housing (19) in which is installed the plunger (20) with spring (17) closed on top with mounting cap (18), the lower end of the plunger (20) being in contact with arm (21) on the lug (15) attached using hinge (23) to the trigger assembly (12).
