Abstract:
The invention relates to a tipping paper for a smoking article (1), which tipping paper forms the outermost layer of the casing of the filter. The tipping paper (1) is provided with locally limited raised areas (3, 13, 23) that are formed by hardened lacquer. Between the raised areas (3, 13, 23), surface regions (2) of the tipping paper (1) are provided, above which the raised areas (3, 13, 23) protrude by at least 5 mum in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the tipping paper (1).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A cigarillo is provided comprising: a tobacco rod (2) comprising a tobacco cut filler (4) circumscribed by an inner binder (6); a filter (8) adjacent to the tobacco rod (2); a band of tipping paper (10) circumscribing the filter (8); and an outer wrapper (14) of natural tobacco circumscribing the tobacco rod (2) and a rod end portion of the band of tipping paper (10) such that a mouth end portion of the band of tipping paper (10) is visible. A method of making the cigarillo is also provided comprising: convoluting an inner binder (6) around a tobacco cut filler (4) to form a tobacco rod (2); axially aligning and abutting a filter (8) with the tobacco rod (2); convoluting a band of tipping paper around the filter (8); and convoluting an outer wrapper (14) of natural tobacco around the tobacco rod (2) and a rod end portion of the band of tipping paper (10) such that a mouth end portion of the tipping paper (10) is visible.
Abstract:
A product and method of making thereof for the consumption of smokable substances such as tobacco or herbs. The product is comprised of smokable substances such as smokable herbs, plants, tobacco, homogenized tobacco and/or natural leaf materials and has a hollow conical shape that allows for the easy insertion of smokable substances. Additionally, the conical or frustoconical shape of the product provides for larger amounts of smokable substances in the end of the product the consumer lights, resulting in an initial slower prolonged burn and more even distribution of nicotine. Additionally, placement of a supporting insert into the interior of the product supports the conical shaped of the product when packaged along with supporting during the process of being filled.
Abstract:
A smoking article tube includes an elongated tube having a mouthpiece segment at a first end and an empty smokable material cavity defined by a second end of the elongated tube opposing the first end. A hydrophobic tube region includes hydrophobic groups covalently bonded to the elongated tube.

Abstract:
A smoking article (10) comprises a tobacco rod (12) and a filter (14) connected to the tobacco rod (12). The filter (14) comprises a first filter segment (18, 20) comprising one or more breakable capsules, wherein each breakable capsule comprises an outer shell and an inner core containing an additive. The filter (14) further comprises a hollow tube segment (22) downstream of the first filter segment (18, 20) and positioned between a downstream end of the first filter segment (18, 20) and the mouth end of the filter (14). The hollow tube segment (22) defines a cavity (24) at the mouth end of the filter (14). A plug wrap (23) circumscribes the first filter segment (18, 20) and the hollow tube segment (22), wherein the plug wrap (23) has a basis weight of less than 90 grams per square metre.
Abstract:
A smoking article comprises a rod (1) of smokeable material such as tobacco and a tubular support (2) in which the rod is slidably received. The tubular support (2) is formed from a blank (11) of sheet material that is wound in a spiral. Machinery for making the spiral blank is described.
Abstract:
A cigarette 2 includes a rod 4 comprising a wrapped tobacco column 8 that is joined to an axially aligned filter 12 by a band of air impermeable tipping paper 14. The filter end of the rod 4 is inserted into a mouthpiece 6 having an air impermeable outer surface that comprises a ventilation tube 16 and a second filter 18, separated by a mixing chamber 20. The ventilation tube 16 has an air permeable annular wall 26 that defines a central axial passage 28 through which the rod 4 extends. In use, the end surface 30 of the annular wall 26 at the rod end of the ventilation tube 16, which extends radially outward around the rod 4, acts as a ventilation surface through which air is drawn into the mixing chamber 20, where it mixes with mainstream smoke from the burning tobacco rod. The air/smoke mixture is drawn through the second filter 18 into the consumer's mouth.
