Abstract:
A shoe includes a sole, an upper, and a welt. The sole and upper define a seam. The welt overlies the seam. The sole includes flex grooves. The upper includes perforations. The welt includes flex slits.
Abstract:
An insert (16) is described that can be placed with an insert receiving area (18) of a slipper (10). The insole can be prepared by molding a structure comprising a foam layer (27) having a first foam side and a second foam side. The insole includes a heel region (40), an arch region (40), and a toe region (44). The heel region includes a heel cushioning portion and a heel perimeter portion (47). The heel perimeter portion includes a retaining wall (36) that extends above the top surface of the heel cushioning portion. The arch region includes an arch cushioning portion (48) and an arch perimeter portion (49). The arch perimeter portion includes an arch support that extends above the top surface of the arch cushioning portion. The toe region includes a toe cushioning portion (50) and a toe perimeter portion (51). A slipper (10) and a method for manufacturing a slipper are described.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides an improved welted footwear and related method of manufacture. The welted footwear and related method of manufacturing is directed to a molded foot support platform that provides a number of advantageous features.
Abstract:
A novel shoe construction provides a unique fit and feel to the shoe wearer's foot. The shoe construction is a variation in what is typically called vulcanized shoe construction. Wherein the conventional vulcanized shoe construction bands of flexible material are permanently adhered or vulcanized to the shoe sole and to a portion of the upper adjacent the shoe sole, in the shoe construction of the invention upper sections of the bands are let loose by being unattached to the shoe upper. In addition, a toe cap of the shoe and a heel counter of the shoe are secured to the shoe sole, but are unattached to the shoe upper. This construction results in a shoe that not only has a unique appearance.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An improved welt construction for use in a welted shoe is disclosed, in which the construction contains a number of components, including: (1) an anti-fatigue layer 32 with tapered recesses 38 for providing cushioning; (2) a rigid shock diffusion welt-frame back part 60; (3) a flexible forepart welt-frame 66; (4) a torsional shank 72; and (5) a flexible ply rib 76, which may surround a periphery 26 of the support system. A variety of devices for protecting a user's foot from injury are also disclosed. In one embodiment, the device may be a metatarsal protection device 318, 330, 390, 118, 190, 220 having a first layer of material with top and bottom surfaces, at least one of such surfaces including a series of cones 336 or a pattern of hexagons 378, 100 thereon. The device 318, 330, 390, 118, 190, 220 may also include a second relatively rigid layer of material overlying the first layer, such that the device is configured to protect the metatarsal region of a user's foot against injury.
Abstract:
A shoe is provided in which an external wrapper (18) covers an outer surface of a midsole (12) along at least a portion of a perimeter of the shoe. An upper assembly (26) forms an external upper surface of the shoe. A wrapper locator (34) abuts an inner surface of the external wrapper (18) and includes an upper edge region (40) extending above a top edge of the external wrapper (18). A lower edge region (38) of the upper material (28) overlaps the upper edge region (40) of the wrapper locator (34). A lower edge (46) of the upper material (28) abuts an upper edge (44) of the external wrapper (18). In this manner, the shoe construction is provided having a midsole wrapper that does not result in large ridges or bulky wrinkles.

Abstract:
In a method of moulding a sole of a plastic material and a welt on a shoe upper (1) a mould (3) is used. The mould (3) includes at last (2), upon which a shoe upper (1) is arranged, an upper mould part (5) divided along a longitudinal middle plane and thus includes two halves (5a, 5b) being laterally movable in relation to the lower mould part (4) between an open and a closed mould position, and a lower mould part (4) being vertically movable in relation to the upper mould part (5) between an open and a closed mould position. For carrying out the method an annular shoe welt (6) is provided and arranged in the mould in the mould's open position. The two halves (5a, 5b) of the upper mould part (5) are closed and the lower mould part is moved into its closed position. As a result a circumferential support surface (7) on the upper face of the lower mould part (4) co-acts with a pressure surface (17) on the lower face of a projection (15) on each half (5a, 5b) of the upper mould part such that the portion of the welt (6) facing the shoe upper (1) it tilted inwards and downwards to bring the inner end face of the welt (6) into sealing engagement with the lower side section of the shoe upper (1). The shoe sole is then moulded in a manner known per se by supplying a plastic material to the cavity of the mould.
