Abstract:
The present invention relates to free-form structures made by additive manufacturing, and methods for the manufacture thereof. The rigid free-form structures comprise a lattice structure which is impregnated by a polymeric or other material. The rigid free- form structures may be used in wound treatment, e.g. as a facial mask.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method of treating a wound (20) using a customized dressing (22). In the method, at least one wound characteristic is evaluated. A treatment need as a function of the at least one wound characteristic is determined. A dressing having a dressing characteristic responsive to the treatment need is fabricated and applied to the wound. A dressing for use therewith and an apparatus and system for fabricating the dressing are provided.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a gas-tight cover for a body part (2) of a living being, comprising a flexible, gas-tight, film-type flat material (1, 60, 60a, 60b) which can be laid around the body part to form a tubular structure and which can be assembled to be gas-tight. In order to improve handling, the cover is provided with a gas-tight closing element (69, 69', 69'', 71) which closes an open end face at one end of the tubular cover in a gas-tight manner.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a laminated pad that is used to apply a fluid, liquid or a colloidal substance in a controlled manner onto a surface, wherein the pad comprises a top and bottom layer between which top and bottom layer at least one layer is arranged, a utility layer being arranged on an outside of the bottom layer, the top layer, at least one layer, bottom layer and utility layer being connected to form a closed storage chamber for a substance that is to be contained in the pad, where at least a part of the top and bottom layer outside and around the closed storage chamber is cut off in order to create a soft edge around the periphery of the pad, where a hinged layer, the at least one layer and the utility layer are connected around their outer edges to form a laminated pad.
Abstract:
A protective article formed of a laminate between at least a layer of a liquid-impermeable, vapor-permeable barrier, and at least a layer of a stretchable or elastomeric, nonwoven fiber web is described. The barrier is reinforced at least on one side by the nonwoven fiber web, which remains elastic after being bonded to the barrier layer. The elasticity of both barrier and bonded fiber layers simulate the flexibility of natural or synthetic latex or other polymer films. The nonwoven fiber web includes at least about 75 % of individual fibers with a length of over about 1 mm, and the fibers are substantially continuous. A second nonwoven web, a second barrier layer, or both may be attached to the exterior side of the breathable barrier. An elastomeric material coating, such as either a nature or synthetic latex or other polymers, may be applied over at least a portion of the article to provide for additional protection.
Abstract:
A neonatal cranial support bonnet is configured to prevent a premature child's head from deforming under the force of its own weight, because of underdeveloped cranial plates. The bonnet includes a thin cotton shell with contoured gel packs inside. The gel packs are configured to distribute weight around the skull and eliminate or reduce high-pressure points so as to maintain proper shape of the cranium. The bonnet is also configured to not interfere with development, and to not obstruct airways for breathing, so as to meet current Sudden Infant Death Syndrome prevention guidelines.
Abstract:
Reduced pressure wound therapy is performed on a sacral region of a patient using an adhesive dressing comprising a flexible planar layer and a non-planar fold-sealing region configured to seal to the intergluteal cleft of a patient. The fold-sealing region is located on an outer edge of the adhesive dressing and comprises a tapered configuration.
Abstract:
A wound dressing comprising an absorbent pad, an adhesive layer, and a backing layer is described, along with a dressing support layer having a tab positioned to overlap the absorbent pad for easy placement on a patient.
