Abstract:
A cable actuator includes a housing and a cam disposed in the housing. The cam includes a first cable retaining portion and a second cable retaining portion. The cam is movable between a first position in which the first cable retaining portion is in an actuated position and the second cable retaining portion is in a return position, and a second position in which the first cable retaining portion is in a return position and the second cable retaining portion is in an actuated position.
Abstract:
A method of securing a patient onto an operating table when the patient is in the Trendelenburg position and apparatus therefor including a kit. A viscoelastic pad is used to support and hold a patient on a medical procedure table during a medical procedure performed while the table, and thus the patient lying thereon, is in an inclined position, such as the Trendelenburg position. The viscoelastic pad has characteristics which promote a minimization of pressure forces on the patient's body, as well as promote a secure cushioning and holding of the patient in a desired position on the table, in order to minimize injury to the patient.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a newborn support device for supporting a newborn in close proximity to the mother. The newborn support device (10) comprises a support platform for receiving thereon the newborn in an at least almost fully supported manner. The platform is provided with an elongated slit (13) which is accessible from a side of the platform and extends through the platform from the top surface to a bottom surface of the platform. The slit enables resuscitation of the newborn on the platform with delayed cord clamping. In another aspect the invention relates to a resuscitation device comprising resuscitation means connected to such a support device.
Abstract:
A patient transfer device is utilized to transport infant patients between locations within a hospital environment. The patient transfer device includes a center, support section and a pair of side sections that can be moved into contact with each other to surround the infant patient. The first and second side sections each include a handle that can be brought into close proximity to each other and can be grasped by a single hand of a clinician. The patient transfer device includes a heart rate sensor positioned to provide a heart rate measurement of the patient when the patient is received on the patient transfer device. The patient heart rate can be displayed on either an integrated display or wirelessly transmitted to an external display device. In this manner, the heart rate of the infant can be continuously monitored during transport.
Abstract:
An adjustable chair (102) comprises a seat (104) to accommodate a person, a base (6) to rest on a ground surface in use, left (108) and right (110) arm rests, and left (112) and right (114) support members configured respectively to directly transmit a force applied to the left (108) and right (110) arm rests and/or to the seat (104) to the ground surface, wherein the left (112) and right (114) support members comprise height-adjusting means (112, 114) for adjusting a vertical position of the seat (104) and the arm rests (108, 110) relative to the base (106).
