A process for manufacturing a cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) gel product is comprising the steps of: (a) preparing an aqueous mixture of HA and a cross-linking agent selected from multiepoxides and diepoxides; wherein the HA is dissolved in an aqueous solution containing 1-10 % (w/w) inorganic hydroxide; and wherein the dissolved HA constitutes more than 10 % (w/w) of the final mixture; and (b) subjecting the aqueous mixture to cross-linking conditions to allow the dissolved HA to react with the cross-linking agent so as to obtain a cross-linked HA gel product.

Compositions and methods for glass composites suitable for tissue augmentation, biomedical, and cosmetic applications are provided. The glass microsphere component of the composites are biologically inert, non-reactive and act as a nearly permanent tissue filler. One embodiment provides a tissue augmentation composite containing an effective amount of solid glass microspheres, hollow glass microspheres, porous wall hollow glass microspheres, or combinations thereof with a suitable biocompatible matrix to serve as a bulking agent when injected into a patient. The compositions can be used for soft or hard tissue augmentation as well as delivery of cargos on demand.

The present invention relates to methods for enhancing, extending and accelerating the cosmetic benefits certain non-surgical dermal interventions, examples of which include treatment with aesthetic injectables such as botulinum toxin and dermal fillers, as well as intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments, particularly cosmetic treatments characterized by the injection of botulinum toxin compositions, such as Botox® and Dysport®, and/or dermal fillers, such as Restylane® and Juviderm®.
