Abstract:
A retractable needle assembly (1) is disclosed comprising a body portion (10); a needle (50) having a forward end (52) and being movable between an operable orientation in which the forward end projects forwardly from the body portion, and a safe orientation in which said forward end (52) is retracted into the body portion(50). The needle assembly further comprises a deflector (70) mounted in the body portion (50), which is moveable between a first position and a second position, wherein the movement of the deflector (70) between its first and second position urges the needle into its safe orientation, the deflector being biased towards the second position; a latching mechanism which holds the deflector in the first position; and an actuator (90), operable to release the latching mechanism.
Abstract:
A cannula introducing device comprises an elongate body (10) having a needle (12) projecting from a front end, an operating element (24) for displacement longitudinally of the body (10) , a plunger (16) disposed at the front end of the body (10) , and a coupling means (18) , such as a flexible wire, coupling the operating element (24) and the plunger (16) , arranged so that retraction of the operating element (24) serves to advance the plunger (16) over the needle (12) and so advance the cannula (30) which is disposed over the needle.
Abstract:
A disposable safety butterfly needle structure comprises a protecting sheath member (1), a slide member (2), and a flexible tube (5). The protecting sheath member (1) is provided with a slide slot (12), Convex buttons (121) are provided respectively near to the front end, back end and slightly foreside of the back end of the slide slot (12). A deflected angle (126) is formed behind the convex buttons (121) of the back end, and an annular blocking portion (10) is provided on the front end of the protecting sheath member (1) through which only the needle (23) can pass. The upper edge of the slide member (2) is connected with a pushing portion (22) by a slide block (21), and the slide member (2) is in the protecting sheath member (1) and fixed between the convex buttons (121) provided on the back end and slightly foreside of the back end of the slide slot (12). When the slide member (2) is pushed backward by the pushing portion (22), it is affected by the deflected angle (126) such that the tip of the needle (23) is inclined and blocked by the annular blocking portion (10), and the needle (23) can't pass through the protecting sheath member (1) for further use.
Abstract:
A safety-sheathed blood sampling needle (32) for use with a standard vacutainer. The needle (32) is housed in a protective hollow body (12) and held in place with a non-tensioned elastic band (38). The needle (32) may be extended outside the cover (12) for use without removing the cover assembly (10) from the needle (32), and may be locked into the use position with one hand. Moving the needle (32) into the use position tensions the elastic band (38). After the sample is taken, the needle (32) is unlocked and retracted back into the cover (12) by the elastic band (38). Upon such retraction, the element (22) used to extend the needle (38) is either concealed or disconnected to prevent accidental reuse of the needle (38).
Abstract:
An introducer catheter and needle guard assembly combination (10) used with a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) is disclosed. The needle guard assembly (12) includes a sliding needle hub (23) for positively locking a needle in the needle guard assembly. The introducer catheter (11) includes a tube portion (13) and connector (25) that can be divided into two halves. The needle guard assembly is secured to the introducer catheter and the extended needle and introducer catheter are inserted into the body of a patient. The needle (22) and needle guard assembly can then be removed from the introducer catheter. A PICC line or other similar line can then be inserted through the catheter tube and into the patient. The tube portion (13) and connector of the catheter are then divided into two halves so that the entire introducer catheter can be removed from the PICC line, or other similar line, that is inserted into the body of a patient.
Abstract:
A retractable syringe needle featuring an adjustable length tube (40) having a first end, and a second end. The adjustable length tube (40) has a length which may be reversibly altered from a first contracted length to a second extended length. A syringe barrel (41) may be secured to the first end of the adjustable length tube (40), and a cylindrical hub having a hollow hypodermic needle attached thereto may be secured to the second end of the adjustable length tube (40). A tubular sheath (43) is disposed around the adjustable length tube (40). The tubular sheath (43) has a first end which is rigidly connected with the first end of the adjustable length tube (40), and a second end having an opening which is sufficiently large to allow the end of the hypodermic needle to pass therethrough. The length of the adjustable length tube (40) may be altered from the contracted length to the extended length.
Abstract:
A novel polyester composition is disclosed comprising a linear polyester resin, a difunctional epoxy compound and a catalyst. The novel polyester compositions have excellent melt viscosity properties including excellent retention of melt viscosity after aging.
Abstract:
A retractable needle assembly includes a housing having a sidewall defining a hollow bore, and an elongate plunger, the distal end of the plunger forming a reservoir within the hollow bore for containing a fluid therein. The plunger is adapted for slideable movement within the hollow bore. The assembly includes a hub disposed within the hollow bore and at least partially supporting a cannula therewith, and a needle retraction member engaged with the hub for manually selectable advancement with respect to a portion of the housing. The needle retraction member may be advanced from an initial position in which at least a portion of the needle is disposed outside the housing, to a retracted position in which the needle is fully surrounded by the housing. The elongate plunger may be advanced about the hub for extracting the fluid into the reservoir or expelling the fluid from the reservoir.
Abstract:
A needle safety device is provided having a housing, a needle assembly movably mounted within the housing and a spring for biasing the needle assembly within the housing. The needle assembly is movable along a first axis and the spring is movable along the second axis different from the first. There is also provided a lens for enhancing visualization of the flow of fluid through the needle safety device. There is further provided a safety sheath for covering a needle of the needle assembly and restraining the needle assembly against movement due to the bias of the spring.
