Abstract:
The invention relates to a play and sport device which consists of an object that can be thrown and caught (1) and at least one device (2) for throwing and catching, the device (2) for throwing and catching consisting of two, substantially elongate, dimensionally stable lateral frame parts (3) that are movably interconnected, a flexible catch surface (4), e.g. produced of fabric, kite foil or netting, fastened therebetween, and the lateral frame parts (3) having a handle in the lower area thereof or being connected to a handle zone (5a), the lateral parts (3) being displaced by the the effect of a hand acting upon the handle zone or the handle, an object that can be thrown, preferably a ball, being associated with the device for throwing and catching.
Abstract:
An active play toy shaped substantially like a baseball bat has a proximal handle section grippable by a user and a distal launching section rotatably attached to the handle section and rotatably movable with respect to the handle section from a first angled striking configuration to a second substantially straight configuration by swinging the toy. The angle between the handle section and the launching section in the striking configuration is substantially between 90° and 120° and preferably about 105°. One or more detent mechanisms keep the toy in at least one of the first or second configurations until moved by the user. One such detent mechanism keeps the toy in the first angled striking configuration until the toy is swung like a bat by the user. A scalloped ball holding region may be formed in a distal portion of the launching section for holding and/or catching a ball.
Abstract:
Throwing devices are described. In one embodiment, a throwing device includes a spring-actuated throwing arm wherein a cup member is disposed at an end of the throwing arm and is adapted to allow a user to pick up an object to be thrown by the throwing device without touching the object. In another embodiment, a throwing device includes a tension adjustment member, by which a user can adjust the tension applied to the launching spring, thereby adjusting the launch range of the throwing device.
Abstract:
A ball throwing apparatus, comprising: an elongated body having a longitudinal axis spanning between first and second ends. A part-spherical structure is integrally formed on one said ends of the elongated body, with the part spherical structure having an opening capable of receiving and releaseably engaging a ball. The part-spherical structure is capable of releasing the ball when the elongated body is held near one said ends and swung in a, circular path. The part spherical structure includes a closure mechanism which is capable of movement between a first orientation in which the closure at least partly covers the ball when retained in the ball thrower and a second orientation in which the ball in the part spherical structure is at least partially uncovered.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A Baseball/Softball Training Method and Device Therefor is disclosed. Also disclosed is a device that enables users to experience a very realistic batting practice withouth the high cost associated with an automated pitching machine. The device is low cost and very small in profile. The device further does not require any pitching skill in order to provide a very realistic hitting experience. The game using the device further includes a novel ball that is smaller and much softer than a conventional baseball. Finally, the ball may have holes formed in a portion of its cover to permit the user to create controllable differential drag on one side of the ball when launched to the batter.
Abstract:
A ball thrower accessory for use with a ball thrower is provided, the ball thrower accessory comprising a concave, flexible cap including: an inner surface; an outer surface, at least a portion of the outer surface retaining or including a plurality of structures extending outward therefrom; and a margin therebetween, the margin shaped to provide two proximal leaves defining a central invagination, two side leaves and a distal leaf. A combination of a ball thrower and the accessory is also provided.
Abstract:
A portable apparatus propels a projectile such as a golf ball, without the use of any external source of power. A striking driver is retracted, to a non-equilibrium position, by application of force, and is held in the non-equilibrium position. When the striking driver is released, it travels along a guided path and forcibly contacts the projectile, which is held in a loading port. Differential friction devices may be used on the projectile and/or the striking driver, to impart spin to the projectile. A rotary trigger alternately blocks and unblocks the striking driver, enabling control of the release of the striking driver. The apparatus may include various safety devices which prevent accidental release of the striking driver.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a playing device for a ball. The playing device is designed in the form of a racket having a handle and a striking plate. According to the invention, the striking plate has at least one through-hole, the inside dimension of which is greater than the ball and to the edge of which an elastic net is fastened, the holes of which net are smaller than the ball so that the ball can be caught in the net.
Abstract:
A thrower includes an elongate arm. A handle is attached to one end of the arm. A retaining device has a base attached to an opposite end of the arm and at least one gripping member extending from the base to define a retention volume together with the base. The, or each, gripping member is resiliently displaceable with respect to the base to permit the retaining device to be urged on to the object to be thrown such that the, or each, gripping member is displaced to permit the object to be received in the retention volume, with the, or each, gripping member subsequently retaining the object in the retention volume.
