The opening means is arranged on the mixer housing (6) and rotatable with respect to the cartridge and in one exemplary embodiment has a cutting member (13) with two knife-edges (20) that are arranged essentially parallelly to and spaced apart from the longitudinal axis and provided with cutting edges (14). Thanks to the rotatable knife-edges, such a cutting member allows a clean and predetermined opening of the bags and a dispensing operation with minimum pressure losses and lost volumes.

The nozzles (114, 115) are designed and oriented in a predetermined manner (depending on the type and quantity of the constituent bone cement components being mixed), to cause the components to interact at a preselected distance within the mixing chamber (123), to assure uniform powder saturation and a thorough mix which yields a homogeneous reaction product.
