Abstract:
A machine tool assembly includes a basic body, and a clamp and an actuator component mounted to the basic body. The clamp and actuator components include ramping surfaces for cooperatively biasing the clamp into an engagement position. The actuator component is configured to move along an actuator movement axis and includes an actuator relief surface connected, and extending at a different angle, to the actuator component's ramping surface. The different angle is configured to facilitate disengagement of the actuator component and clamp for a smaller movement of the actuator component along the actuator movement axis than would have been the case in the absence of such configuration, thereby allowing a compact construction of the assembly.
Abstract:
A cutting tool holder adapted for mounting thereon a cutting insert having a top face, a bottom face and an insert bore extending between the top face and the bottom face, and having an inner surface. The holder comprises a seat defined by a base surface and at least one side wall angled to the base surface, a seat bore extending along a bore axis, and having an open end at the base surface. The holder also comprises a securing arrangement having a securing member extending between a proximal end and a distal end, the securing member having a head portion at the proximal end and having its distal end received within the seat bore. The securing arrangement also has a displacement arrangement adapted to displace the securing member along the bore axis of the seat bore between a mounting position in which the head portion protrudes from within the seat bore through the base surface into the seat to a first extent, defining a first gap distance between the head portion and the at least one side wall allowing the cutting insert to be placed within the seat and/or being fully removed from the seat, and a securing position in which the head portion protrudes from within the seat bore through the base surface into the seat to a second extent, smaller than the first extent, defining a second gap distance between the head portion and the at least one side wall smaller than the first gap distance, so as to engage the inner surface of the insert bore, thereby securing the insert between the head portion and the at least one side wall. The insert seat is further formed with a support surface configured for engaging and providing support to the head portion of the securing member at least in the securing position.
Abstract:
A cutting tool (20) has a cutting insert (22) secured in a tool shank (24) by means of a clamping bolt (26), whereby two opposing side surfaces (46, 48) of a body portion (40) of the cutting insert (22) are located between two spaced apart protuberances (28, 30) of the tool shank (24). The body portion (40) includes a cut-out (44) extending between the two opposing side surfaces (46, 48) and opening out to a bottom surface (50). The cut-out (44) includes an undercut (52) with at least one undercut sub-surface (54) with respect to a forward direction (F). The clamping bolt (26) can be rotated from a locked position wherein the bolt shank (60) has a threaded portion (64) engaged in one of the protuberances (28, 30) and a bolt locking portion (66) located directly forward of the at least one undercut subsurface (54), to an un-locked position wherein the threaded portion (64) remains engaged in the protuberance () and no portion of the bolt shank (60) is located directly forward of the at least one undercut sub-surface (54).
Abstract:
The present invention disclose a cutting tool having a structure in which an insert can be rotated without detaching completely a clamping screw from a holder to correspond the new cutting edge or cutting corner of the insert to a work-piece to be machined and an insert can be removed from a holder without detaching completely a clamping screw from a holder. A cutting tool according to the present invention comprises a holder consisting of a pocket portion having a side surface and a bottom surface and a clamping hole formed below the pocket portion; an insert having cutting portions and a central through hole and mounted on the pocket portion of the holder; and a clamping screw for securing the insert to the holder, the clamping screw including a head portion contacted with an inner circumference surface of the through hole of the insert and a coupling portion passing through the through hole of the insert and coupled with the clamping hole of the holder. Here, the clamping hole of the holder has a central line inclined with an angle with respect to a perpendicular line to the bottom surface of pocket portion, the head portion of the clamping screw consists of an upper cylindrical portion and a lower frustum portion, the through hole of the insert includes a minimal diametral portion and an upper region having a diameter which gradually increases toward the upper end, and the diameter of the upper cylindrical portion of the head portion of the clamping screw is smaller than that of the minimal diametral portion of the through hole of the insert, but a length of a horizontal prolate axis of the head portion of the clamp screw which is inclined with the angle is larger than a diameter of the minimal diametral portion.
Abstract:
According to the invention, an insert holder (10) exists for indexable cutting inserts. In connection with the insert seat, a clamping device is located, including an L-shaped toggle joint (18), of which one arm (21) is received in a hole (13) in the cutting insert and of which the second arm (22) is actuated by a pressure member (19). Characteristic of the invention is that the hole (13) in the cutting insert is a blind hole and that the end portion of the arm (22) co-operating with the member (19) has a V-shaped cavity (23) in order to enclose a waist portion (24) of the member (19).
