Abstract:
A system that converts fanfold material into packaging templates includes a converting assembly that performs conversion functions, such as cutting, creasing, and scoring, on the fanfold material as the fanfold material moves through the converting machine in a first direction. The converting assembly may be mounted on a frame such that the converting assembly is elevated above a support surface. An outfeed guide may change the direction of movement of the fanfold material from the first direction to a second, generally vertical direction after the converting assembly has performed the conversion functions on the fanfold material.

Chamfer cutting devices are described. The chamfer cutting devices include a mounting bracket, an electromagnet rigidly attached to the mounting bracket, a hold/release arm magnetically coupled to the electromagnet, a chamfer former rigidly attached to the hold/release arm, wherein the chamfer cutter comprises two bending beams, each terminating in a chamfer point, and a blade rigidly connected to the mounting bracket and positioned between the chamfer points. Dispensers incorporating such chamfer cutting devices and methods of chamfer cutting are also described.

A press forming-and-cutting method and a related device are structured to produce vinyl tile with rolled edges. A press forming-and-cutting die and related mechanisms are structured to form and cut vinyl tile that has been rolled and surface-finished to produce an end-product of vinyl tile with rolled edges in a single integrated operation. The press forming-and-cutting die is driven by a hydraulic press system.
Abstract:
A process of forming bend-controlling structures, such as slits, grooves or displacements(22), in a sheet of material (21, 121, 221, 321, 421, 521, 621,721). The bend-controlling structures (22) have central portions (26) extending substantially parallel to a desired bend line (23) on the sheet and end portions (27) which diverge away from the bend line (23). In one embodiment the process includes the step of forming the bending straps (24) between pairs of slit end portions (27) at a desired spaced apart distances along the bend line (23) with the straps (24) having a desired configuration, and the step of forming central portions (26) which connect the end portions (27) to complete the slits (22) using a separate die set. A plurality of end portion dies (51/54) can be used to produce end portions (27) of various shapes and straps (24) of various widths, and a single set of central portion forming dies (71/74) are used to connect the end portions (27). In other embodiments die sets producing a single end portion (27) or mirror image impressions (A,B) are used and preferably overlapped to produce the complete bend-controlling structure (22). A modular die assembly (500) also is disclosed in which the bend-controlling structures can be produced by modular die inserts (511-514, 611-614). Finally, a selection of die sets (722a, 722b, 722c) of differing length from a group of die sets can be made to position the bending straps (24) at desired locations along the bend line.

A layered mat of fibrous insulation material, and a method of layering the mat, is provided, by cutting partially through a thickness of a mat of fibrous insulation material to provide a series of transverse cuts spaced apart along a continuous length of the mat; layering said mat into a series of lapped insulation layers connected in a sinuous configuration, wherein the transverse cuts extend along respective ends of the lapped insulation layers; and folding the sinuous configuration along the transverse cuts at ends of the lapped insulation layers, while the transverse cuts reduce creasing of the mat.
