The portable sawmill (10) is constructed on a frame (12) having a series of mechanisms for loading and manipulating a log thereon and removing boards cut from the log. Powered tines load a log onto a vertically adjustable log deck (22), the deck (22) including powered mechanisms for turning and securing the log in the desired orientation for cutting. Cuts are made by a horizontally traveling band saw. The saw has no vertical adjustment. Board thickness is determined by the height of the vertically adjustable log deck (22). Cut boards are removed by a board sweep that pushes the board laterally from the top of the log onto a tray. The saw travels along the tray to push the board longitudinally onto a suitable platform for transport. This production line consists of a line saw 16 which is placed horizontally and of 6 carrying trolleys 1, 2, 3, 7, 9 and 13 onto which logs to be cut are affixed and of two auxiliary trolleys 8 and 14 which transport carrying trolleys from the main rail 5 to the rail for the saw 12 and from the rail for the saw 12 to the main rail 5. Carrying trolleys 7, 9 and 13 carry one log (each trolley) and they "circle around" from the main rail 5 onto the auxiliary rail 6, then onto the rail for the saw 12, onto the auxiliary rail 4, until they cut the entire thickness of all three logs. During the cutting of the first three logs, on the auxiliary line placed are carrying trolleys 1, 2 and 3 onto which placed and affixed are three new logs, which go to the main rail 5, while carrying trolleys with the cut logs move onto the auxiliary line for loading of new logs. This production line has no idling and it can saw 3 times larger quantity of timber than it is done in a saw-mill of the same techical characteristics. Besides this, on this line cut is the timber (which is used as firewood due to being bent) of up to 1.5 m length which is then commercially marketed at a several times bigger price per m3.

Es umfasst die folgenden Verfahrensschritte: - Vorbereiten (S 1 ) des Baumstamms (6); - Vermessen (S 2 ) der Form und/oder des Volumens des Baumstamms; - Speichern (S 3 ) der im Verfahrensschritt Vermessen (S 2 ) erhaltenen Form- und/oder Volumendaten; - Ermitteln (S 4 ) des Verlaufs einer neutralen Faser (11) innerhalb des Baumstamms (6) anhand der in dem Verfahrensschritt Speichern (S 3 ) gespeicherten Form und/oder Volumendaten; - Berechnen (S 5 ) von zumindest einem individuellen Schweifschnittverlauf für den Baumstamm (6), der parallel oder entlang zu der neutralen Faser (11) verläuft; - Ansteuern (S 6 ) der zumindest einen Bandsäge (2) der Bandsägeeinrichtung (1), so dass das Bandsägeblatt (3) den Baumstamm (6) entlang des zumindest einen individuellen Schweifschnittverlaufs zersägt.

The invention pertains to band saw rigs for sawing timber lengthwise, with horizontally directed band saws and intended for use in cutting timber into beams, planks etc. The problem addressed by the present invention is that of designing a band saw rig of simple design and requiring little labour to manufacture while eliminating flaws in geometry in the timber produce. This is achieved in the following way: in a band saw rig with two guide pillars (1, 2) connected by frames (3, 4), on which pillars a saw mechanism (7) is mounted via support elements (5, 6), and a device including a drive for displacing the saw mechanism vertically, the vertical displacement device is provided with two links (11, 13) connected by an articulating joint. One of the links (11) is connected by an articulating joint to the upper frame (3) of the pillars and the second (13) is similarly connected to the saw mechanism (7). The axes (12, 14, 15) of these articulations are parallel to one another and perpendicular to the guide pillars.

According to the invention the means carrying the band saw device (1) comprises a sledge (2) or the like, positioned in the saw mill on one side of the stationary means (24) for reception of the log. Furthermore, the sledge is slidable on at least two elongated, essentially parallel prisms (8, 9), which function as a guide and dolly means for the sledge with the band saw device, and which has a longitudinal direction that is essentially parallel with the longitudinal direction of the imaginary log.
