The invention relates to a laminate for application onto a carrier material, in particular onto a carrier plate, having a resin-impregnated decorative layer (4), and having at least one resin-impregnated core layer (6, 8, 10), wherein the decorative layer (4) and the at least one core layer (6, 8, 10) are suited to be pressed together under high pressure and heat. The technical problem addressed by the invention is that of improving a laminate for application onto a carrier material, in particular onto a carrier plate. This problem is solved in that the layer arranged opposite the decorative layer has an embossed structure substantially corresponding to a structure produced by way of grinding. The invention further relates to a pressing means, and to a method for producing such a laminate.

The viscoelastic material may have a varied shear moduli and functions as a glue and energy dissipating layer. In some embodiments, one or more constraining layers separating one layer of glue may be included. The constraining layer may be formed of a material such as gypsum, cement, metal, cellulose, wood, or petroleum-based products such as vinyl, plastic, or rubber. In some embodiments, standard wallboard, typically gypsum, comprises the external surfaces of the laminated panel.

In other examples, a laminate product having a veneer is formed by pressing a veneer and a sheet-form material onto a substrate including a porous structure. The veneer may comprise a wood material. In other examples, a surface effect material is bonded to a skin by pressing a sheet-form curable material to a mould surface and the surface effect material. Where the surface effect material has a high thermal conductivity, the composite product formed can feel cool to the touch.
