Abstract:
An elongate catheter tip may be coupled to an elongate catheter body adjacent a distal end of the catheter body. To couple a catheter tip to a catheter body, a proximal portion of the catheter tip may (1) be disposed between a first elongate member and an second elongate member and (2) be subsequently fused to the second elongate member and the first elongate member. The resulting catheter and catheter tip may, among other functions, facilitate the measurement of differences in fluid pressure and/or facilitate the delivery of fluid or medical devices during a medical procedure.
Abstract:
Method for manufacturing panels having a decorative surface, wherein said panels (7) at least comprise a substrate (8) and a top layer (9), wherein said top layer (9) comprises a paper layer (2) having a printed pattern, and wherein said method at least comprises the step (S1) of providing said paper layer (2) with thermosetting resin by transporting said paper layer (2) through a resin application device in a resin application direction (D1), and the step of providing said paper layer (2) with at least a portion of said printed pattern by means of a digital inkjet printer (18), characterized in that said printed pattern comprises a wood motif having wood nerves (40) extending generally in a nerve direction (D4) substantially corresponding to said resin application direction (D1).
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems and methods of creating altered adhesive bonded joints between metal or composite substrates, including bonds that are weaker in strength than selected reference bonds. One method of creating an altered adhesive bond includes providing a first substrate and a second substrate, selecting a manufacturing process having a plurality of steps designed to produce a desired, or reference, adhesive bond having a desired strength, and selectively altering at least one of the plurality of steps during performance of the manufacturing process to produce an altered bond between the first substrate and the second substrate, the altered bond having an altered strength that is weaker than the strength of the desired adhesive bond. The systems may include systems that may be utilized to create the altered adhesive bonds and/or test standards.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a haemostatic patch comprising a porous layer based on oxidized cellulose and a neutralized film based on chitosan, said film comprising a free face and a face fixed on one of the faces of the porous layer, and to the method of preparing said patch comprising the following steps: - a°) preparing a porous layer based on oxidized cellulose, - b°) preparing a film based on chitosan starting from an acidic aqueous solution of chitosan, - c°) fixing the film obtained in b°) on one face of the porous layer, - d°) neutralizing the film obtained in b°), - where step c°) can be carried out before or after step d°), characterized in that: the neutralizing step d°) comprises treatment of said film with a neutralizing composition comprising at least ethanol and ammonium hydroxide (NH 4 OH).
Abstract:
Polarizing beam splitter plates and systems incorporating such beam splitter plates are described. The polarizing beam splitter plate includes a first substrate and a multilayer optical film reflective polarizer that is disposed on the first substrate. The polarizing beam splitter plate includes a first outermost major surface and an opposing second outermost major surface that makes an angle of less than about 20 degrees with the first outermost major surface. The polarizing beam splitter plate is adapted to reflect an imaged light received from an imager towards a viewer or screen with the reflected imaged light having an effective pixel resolution of less than 12 microns.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for impinging a heated fluid onto the surface of a substrate and then locally removing the impinged fluid. The apparatus and methods may be used to heat a surface of a substrate e.g. so that the substrate can be melt-bonded to another substrate.
Abstract:
Articles including a polymer film, a plasticizer and a substrate are included. A method of bonding the film to the substrate includes the use of the plasticizer which provides a durable bond by using a lower temperatures and shorter bonding times than would be required in the absence of the plasticizer.
Abstract:
The present invention is an improved process for transfer laminating a colored PVB film from a base transfer sheet onto the surface of a PVB sheet having a roughened surface. The improved process comprises wetting the contact surface of the PVB film and/or the PVB sheet prior to bringing the surfaces into contact to displace trapped air which normally interferes with complete lamination. The colored laminate composite PVB sheet can be applied to the surface of a transparent substrate to obtain a transparent laminate article having a colored band on at least part of its surface. The process results in an improved product that is more resistant to marring defects, such as scratching and high temperature pickoff, in the process of making the transparent laminate article.
Abstract:
A composite structure comprises a porous medium (15), a substrate (10) provided with at least one drainage pathway, and a support and drainage medium (13) sandwiched between the porous medium (15), and the substrate (10). The porous medium (15), the support and drainage medium (13), and the substrate (10) are bonded free of any adhesive.
