Abstract:
A spittoon system for a printing mechanism includes a reservoir elongated in a longitudinal direction and having a bottom part. The reservoir receives printing fluid residue spit from a print-head onto a first zone of the reservoir. The spittoon system further includes a cleaning element arranged inside the reservoir to transfer, by sliding along the longitudinal direction of the reservoir, the received printing fluid residue from the first zone to a second zone. The second zone includes a drain outlet to drain the printing fluid residue from the reservoir.
Abstract:
A method of removing printing fluid puddles from an exterior nozzle surface of an Inkjet printhead includes selectively applying a suction signal for a first time period to a plurality of actuators associated with fluid channels of corresponding nozzles by a control module. The method also includes moving printing fluid within the fluid channels associated with the actuators in response to application of the suction signal. Additionally, the method also includes creating suction in each one of the associated fluid channels and through the corresponding nozzles to remove the printing fluid puddles from the exterior nozzle surface by pulling the printing fluid puddles through the corresponding nozzles and the associated fluid channels in response to movement of the printing fluid within the fluid channels.
Abstract:
A printing head assembly with integrated purge mechanism is disclosed. The printing head assembly comprises: (a) a liquid dispensing head comprising one or more dispensing nozzles enclosed in a nozzle plate, driven by at least first and second pressures, and (b) a shielding mask including an opening in front of the one or more nozzles, wherein the opening being configured such that when printing liquid is dispensed from the head driven by the first pressure, the liquid being dispensed in pulses through the opening in the shielding mask, and (ii) when purge printing liquid is dispensed from the head driven by the second pressure, the liquid being drawn to a capillary gap formed between the shielding mask and the nozzle plate thereby removing the purge printing liquid from the nearby nozzles.
Abstract:
An inkjet printer unit (2) is provided comprising a media input assembly for supporting media for printing, a media output assembly for collecting printed media, and a print engine for printing an image on the media. The unit being configured such that the media output assembly is an image reading unit and the printed media is collected on a surface of the image reading unit (701).
Abstract:
An printer unit is provided comprising a body having a media input assembly for supporting media for printing (34), a media output assembly for collecting printed media and a print engine (70) adapted to be mounted to said body and having a printhead for printing an image on a surface of the media. The printhead being a pagewidth printhead that is removable from the print engine.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an ink-jet printer comprising a print unit which contains at least one ink-jet nozzle. Said nozzle can be flushed by means of a predetermined quantity of ink that is expelled, said expelled flushing ink being received by an ink receiving device. The invention is characterized in that a partial area of a supply of recording medium is used as the ink receiving device.
