Abstract:
A method of stacking a longer cargo container (26) on a shorter container (25) using a container support (10) to support a part of the length of the longer container (26) overhanging the shorter container (25). The container support (10) and shorter container (25) are both mounted on a container carrier (20), and the container support (10) may be removably-attachable thereto or form an integral part (50) thereof. The method of stacking and container supports can be used to allow improved mixed loading of cargo containers (25, 26). The container supports (10) may be adjustable in height to accommodate different size containers (25, 26). The present invention also includes container carriers (20) incorporating suitable container supports (50).
Abstract:
The invention relates to apparatus for transport with goods located therein and in one embodiment is provided in the form of a trailer which can be part of an articulated vehicle or can be provided as a fixed body of a vehicle. The trailer includes a goods storage cavity which is split into two portions, a first portion between the first, base floor and a second floor spaced above the first floor, and a second portion between the second floor and roof of the trailer. The angled configuration of the floors is fixed and/or can be adjusted in use so that the height of one or both of the respective portions increases towards the rear of the trailer. A door assembly is also provided which provides imp [roved access to the respective floors when the door assembly is open.
Abstract:
It is a semi-trailer vehicle (10) with a frame (20) structure suitable for 40 ft containers (40) and it is characterized with comprising front modular extension (22) mounted on the front of the main frame (21 ) of the mentioned frame (20) facilitating the extension of the structure and rear modular extension (23) mounted on the rear of the mentioned main frame (21 ) facilitating its extension.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to sliding bogie trailers, and in particular to skeletal truck trailers for carrying container loads and to extendible flatbed trailers. A skeletal trailer (1) comprises a chassis section (2) and a wheeled bogie section (3) which is slidably connected to the chassis section (2) and relatively movable between forwards and rearwards positions. The bogie section (3) has a striker pin (9) and the chassis section (2) has two fifth wheel clasp mechanisms (10, 11) which automatically receive and retain the striker pin (9) to lock the sections (2, 3) in place when the sections are moved to the forwards or rearwards position. The clasp mechanisms (10, 11) may each be unlocked to allow the sections to be moved to another of the positions.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a trailer which makes use of at least one bulk transportation container (12) as the load bearing structure of the trailer. The trailer further includes a wheel set (14) and draught vehicle connection means (16) which are connected to the container (12) at spaced apart positions. If desired, the body may be made up of two containers connected end-to-end.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to extendible skeletal or flatbed sliding bogie trailers that may be used for carrying loads such as container loads or pallets. The extendible trailer comprises: a wheeled bogie section (103); braking means (50, 52) including wheel brakes by which road-going wheels (8) may be braked; a chassis section (102) forwards of the bogie section (103), and relatively moveable with respect to the bogie section between an extended and a retracted position; section locking means (109, 110, 111) by which the sections may be releasably secured in said positions. The trailer has control means (60) arranged to control the section locking means (109, 110, 111) and the braking means (50, 52) so that the wheel brakes are engaged prior to and during the relative movement of the sections (102, 103). Preferably, the control means (60) is also arranged to control the section locking means (109, 110, 111) and the braking means (50, 52) so that the wheel brakes are disengaged after the relative movement of the sections (102, 103).
Abstract:
A load carrying system including a primary rack (12) upon which secondary racks (16, 18) can be mounted. Primary rack (12) is adapted for use with a first load carrying vehicle (2) which has a load handling system (6). The load handling system (6) can engage with an upstanding A-frame (14) of the primary rack (12) to transfer the primary rack (12) to and from the platform (4) of the first vehicle (2). Each secondary rack (16, 18) is similarly adapted for use with a second vehicle (102). Each secondary rack (16, 18) is mounted on the primary rack (12) so that it may be moved relative to the primary rack (12) by a sliding or rolling action. This facilitates the transfer of loaded secondary racks (16, 18) from primary rack (12) to second vehicles (102) using their load handling systems (106) thus breaking up the load carried by the first vehicle (2) and transferring it to the second vehicles (102) without the use of back-up vehicles.
Abstract:
A system for lifting shipping containers (20) each having corner fittings (13) provided with lifting/fastening apertures, the system has lifting means (22, 23) for lifting en masse a matrix of containers consisting of two or more columns of vertically connected containers, each column being at least two containers high. The lifting means uses the lifting apertures provided on the top of the top container in each column, and connecting means (24) are provided for connecting each column transversely to each adjacent column to hold the columns together and prevent toppling of the columns relative to each other. A method of lifting is also disclosed together with a lifting beam (23) and trailer (60) and for use in handling containers.
