Abstract:
The multiple driver occupied passenger vehicles transporter system (Autobus) provides a way to efficiently, economically and safely increase the highway vehicle flow rate of cars per lane per hour. Autobus employs a vehicle transporter, terminal, sensors and systems that provide a way to quickly load and unload driver occupied passenger vehicles on and off of the vehicle transporter. Autobus provides a way to safely transport multiple driver occupied passenger vehicles, including cars, sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and light trucks.
Abstract:
The carriage unit (1) is a single-decker or double-decker carriage with a body that accommodates the road-going load and is notable in that it has, for each carriage accommodating body in the unladen state, at least one open end for insertion and an opposite end that is closed by design. The road-going load is inserted and extracted via the insertion end. The road-going load has a front structure with a transverse wall (11) which, during transport, acts as a wall that closes off the insertion end. This invention is of benefit to rail/road haulage operators.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention concerns a mixed-use railway unit characterized in that it comprises a pivoting railway structure (1) consisting of a low-frame base (11) forming a lower loading floor (12) and two flank lateral walls (15) and (16), comprising each support means (17) combined with means for supporting directly transported vehicles, retractable or foldable in inactive position and brought in horizontal working position to form an upper floor for road vehicles to be transported, the lateral walls (15) and (16) being optionally prolonged by a retractable, detachable or foldable covering structure (25). The invention is applicable to mixed rail/road transport of road vehicles either directly or by loading vehicle-carrying trucks on the railway car.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a transport wagon for carrying cargo, especially cars, and to a method for loading the transport wagon. The transport wagon comprises a chassis (1) with trains of wheels (2) at its ends. In its central area, the wagon chassis has a recessed loading portion (6), where the vertical level of the upper surface of the chassis is clearly lower than at the ends of the wagon. The wagon is divided into longitudinal cargo segments (8) by means of dividing support walls (4) having cantilever cargo levels. The cargo levels do not form a continuous cover on the chassis, being merely small support surfaces in the corners of the cargo segment, on which the cargo carried in the wagon is supported. The cargo levels are disposed in the dividing support walls so as to be vertically movable. The transport wagon is loaded from the side of the wagon by transferring cars onto the cargo levels by means of any loading device. The cars are placed on the cargo levels supported by removable wheel cages, being thus retained in position during transport without any other attachment. The transport wagon also allows transport of cars placed on pallets. The invention notably increases the transport capacity of transport wagons, since cars can be carried in the wagons on more than two levels. In addition, the stages of loading and unloading the wagons become more rapid, since the cars do not need to be driven through the wagons.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a railway unit (1) consisting of two end running assemblies (5) and (6) interconnected by a pivoting support railway structure (10) detachable to take up an oblique loading and unloading position. The invention is characterised in that the pivoting support railway structure (10) comprises at least at one of its ends (5) and (6) lockable support and bearing means (16) mobile between two positions, said means (16) being designed to lock the rear axle wheels of the second tractor (4) transported with a first tractor (3) in the place of a semi-trailer on the same railway unit and bring it into a lifted transporting position. The invention is of interest to manufacturers of railway equipment for combined rail/road transport.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a device for maintaining in relative position end platforms (2) and (3) of a combined railway/road transport car during the pivoting movements of the railway structure (6) bearing the road car load. The invention is characterised by a longitudinal mechanical linkage (1) linking the two end platforms (2) and (3). Said linkage (1) is a thin longitudinal element not transmitting longitudinal loads. Preferably, said linkage is housed in a central tunnel (10) provided in the floor and bearing the swivel pin of the railway structure (6) bearing the road car load. The invention is of interest for manufacturers of railway/road transport equipment.
Abstract:
A wagon comprising a pair of end doors (38) movable between a first, closed position wherein the end doors enclose an end of the wagon, and a second open position (Fig. 7) wherein the end doors cooperate with end doors on an adjacent wagon to enclose, at least partially, a space between the wagons. In the second position, the end doors may be partially within the side walls (58) of the wagon. The end doors may also be movable to a third position for loading and unloading vehicles wherein the end doors are entirely outside of the wagon so that they do not reduce clearance for the motor vehicles. The wagon preferably includes a vertically adjustable roof structure (42). End portions of the sidewalls preferably are movable with the adjustable height roof structure, with the end doors being supported on the end portions of the sidewalls. End portions of the lower deck or bridge plates are movable to maintain them in close proximity to the end doors so that, when the end doors are moved to their upper or raised position, the end portion of the deck may also be moved to a raised position to avoid creation of a large gap at the bottom of the end doors. To facilitate transport of automotive vehicles over the buffers (54), the buffers (54) preferably are adjustable in height.
