A turbocharger (86) may pre-compress the air consumed by the diesel engine, and a charge air cooler (12) may cool this air before it is introduced to the diesel engine. The charge air cooler may be placed upstream from the diesel engine in a primary air flow. Advantageously, drawing air through the charge air cooler that has not first passed over the engine may lower the operating temperature of the ground power unit .

摘要: An improved method of heating on aircraft engine and cabin. The engine muffler (2) is used with a shroud (4) to form a combustion chamber and heat-exchanger. A burner (3) provides heat which is transferred to air flowing through the heat-exchanger (2) and into the cabin. A two-way valve (10) controls the air flow. When the valve is closed heated air is diverted into the engine compartment. Thus the engine is heated by conduction from the muffler and by direct contact with the hot air.

The control processor (1306) can cause the user display (24) to present a menu listing various types or classes of airplanes for selection by a user. In response to user selection of a type or class of airplane, the control processor sends over the network to one or more of the other modules information defining what particular services the selected type or class of airplane requires of the modules.
