Abstract:
The invention concerns a method and arrangement for forming stacks of timber where the pieces of timber are end-aligned through interaction with transverse rollers, and are formed into stacks through layers being stacked one of top of each other with, in some cases, the insertion of intermediate laths. In order to achieve higher capacity, the method includes the following operational steps: - that in a first step pieces of timber (3) form a contiguous layer (20), - that in a second step the pieces of timber in the layer (20) are separated from each other - that in a third step the separated layer (20) is divided into a number (n) of pre-determined sublayers (20:1-20:n) of pieces of timber, - that in a fourth step the sublayers (20:1-20:n) are end-aligned against a first end stop (37), - that in a fifth step any one of the sublayers (20:1-20:n) is end-aligned against a second end stop (38), - that in a sixth step the relevant sublayers (20:1-20:n) are collected to form a contiguous layer (20), - that in a seventh step the contiguous layers (20) are stacked one on top of each other to form a stack of timber.
Abstract:
A method for stacking semifinished cylindrical metal products includes transferring the semifinished products from a sawing station (3) to a transporting vehicle (12), and stacking the semifinished products on the vehicle. During the transfer of said products, a drive takes them to at least one storage site (4) located above the stack which is to be formed, and each product is lowered from the site down to the vehicle so that it is placed directly in its correct position in the stack.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract:
In a method for arranging spacers meant to be supplied to a table and/or to objects during stacking, spacers are supplied to a path (5) from a magazine (3). A device (1) for handling the spacers when carrying out the method comprises the said path (5), which is shaped of separate bodies, locking means arranged on each body for holding one adjacent spacer on the path and means (17) for transferring spacers from the path (5) to the table (8) and/or to objects on the table. The spacers are supplied to the path (5) in such a way that they lie against one another in a row and in such a way that each spacer extends on two bodies and by said locking means is fixed to the one body. After that the bodies are brought to move from one another lengthwise of the path forming a gap between the bodies, whereby the spacers are separated with one another and/or positioned. The fixing of the locking means is released and said transfer means (17) transfer those spacers which are going to be transferred to the table (8) and/or to the objects on the table. Then the bodies are brought together again and the path (5) is filled out with new spacers from the magazine (3) to replace that number of spacers which have been transferred to the table (8) and/or to the objects on the table.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for handling material for the insulating glass industry are disclosed. One method of handling material for the insulating glass industry in accordance with the present invention includes the step of arranging a plurality of bars into a plurality of stacks with adjacent stacks defining spaces dimensioned to receive a bar engaging member. The stacks of bars may then be transported to a desired destination. A bar engaging member may be inserted into a space defined by the stacks, and one or more bars may be grasped using the bar engaging member. A container for handling material for the insulating glass industry is also disclosed. The container may advantageously include a plurality of prearranged bar locating members configured to hold a predetermined type of bar stock.
Abstract:
An apparatus (10) for placing spacer sticks (12) between layers of lumber is disclosed. The present invention includes an overhead feed system for distributing spacer sticks (12) to a plurality of stick placement modules (24). Each stick placement module (24) has a plurality of stick placement arms which are articulated to receive, grasp, and hold sticks (12) through pincers (190) or grippers (342). After the arms grasp a spacer stick (12), the deviation of the arms from their normal orientations are used to gauge the suitability of the spacer stick (12) and then to reject the spacer stick (12) if the quality of the spacer stick (12) does not meet specifications. Also, the apparatus (10) of the present invention is modular and can be retrofitted to existing lumber stacking machines.
Abstract:
An apparatus for stacking pipes or similar items of round or angular cross-section to form an angular-section stack, the apparatus comprising a stacking table (2) provided with a raising and lowering mechanism, the support surfaces of the table in part corresponding to the shape of the stack to be made, and an inclined feeding plane (4), which is parallel to one side of the stack. The feeding plane (4) constitutes an extension of the support surface of the stacking table (2) at the beginning of the stacking and, respectively, an extension of the lower side of the top layer of items as the stacking progresses. Above the feeding plane (4) there is, parallel to the feeding plane, an upper guide (6), which keeps the arriving flow of items in a single layer, and at the end of the feeding layer there is, adjacent to the stack being formed, a movable edge guide (5) which is synchronized with the movement of the stacking table and can be actuated to delimit that edge of the stack which faces the feeding plane (4). Thus it is not necessary in advance to reserve the number of items for each layer before they are transferred into the stack; instead, the items transfer into the stack almost as one continuous flow and without need for complicated auxiliary mechanisms.
